Round Rock got hit by a tornado today. My truck was severely damaged. Thankfully no injuries. It was super intense. One minute I was sitting at my bench coding and the next we were in the middle of a tornado. No warning. We knew that we were gonna get some rain, but I didn’t realize it was gonna be this bad.

Been watching Ryan Hall all evening, he's got half a dozen storm chasers that have been running these storms from Austin and now in Houston County area.

Been a large number of tornados that have hit a bunch of towns and some heavy damage.

Likely going to be bad for north Louisiana and southern Arkansas overnight.

The tree you see posted above. It completely spun my truck around 180 degrees. It was parked the other direction.

I was inside the building, blissfully unaware a tornado was crushing things in the parking lot. So lucky. If it had hit the building I was in…

It threw around some seriously big trees like twigs.

Trying not to think about how fucked I am with no truck. Some people lost houses. It’s already hard enough to find a decent used truck.

I have insurance, so it’s better than not having insurance, but I’m kinda screwed in this market.

Its good that you are safe, and that the damage was limited to property damage. I saw a swirl start and pause in the clouds and then the winds pushed the clouds to the north. Dark skies in that direction. I was hoping that the weather would hold off despite the warnings on the phone.

11:36 pm and heavy rain, and distant lightning.

But the truck being judged “totaled” by the insurance company is based on the cost of repairs versus the value of the truck. So the insane prices of trucks right now works in your favor of them repairing it instead of giving you a check for some fraction of the value of a replacement truck.

If a "totaled" vehicle can be repaired, it can often be bought from the insurance company and repaired by the owner. I did that with my 1986 Mustang once--it ran very well for at least 10 more years.

Today as well... Tornado hits red truck. The truck is blown over on its side , spins, and is then blown back right side up… a second later the driver drives away!

We were in the path of the one that touched down in Jarrell. It dissolved before getting to where I live in Temple. But they said one might have done some damage in town.

You’re very lucky.

N Houston here, just high winds & heavy rain luckily.
My boss said he could hear hail off the roof at the office.

My wife said the Kalahari water park got hit with a tornado, major damage to nearly all the cars parked there.

Glad you guys are ok. Hope the truck is repairable.
Just the bedside & front door got the brunt of it? Looks like some smaller damage to the rear of the cab & rear door, too.

Glad the OP is OK. I live near P250 so just high winds and heavy rains for me starting at 6 AM.

When I was a kid, a tornado went through downtown of the largest city in the area during business hours on a work day. Dad worked downtown in a concrete block building so him and his coworkers were all OK. He had driven Mom's 70's station wagon to work that day, and after the tornado passed went out to the parking lot and found the station wagon sitting on top of a bill board. Amazing power to lift a 70's station wagon off the ground and slide a billboard under it.
