It's Boston. Unless she has deep pockets, finding a reasonably priced apartment in that area is difficult.

For that reason she could find replacement roommates in short order. So let the others walk.

But the article indicates her landlord wants her out too. It's up to her but I'm guessing that unless there's some sort of enforceable tenant's right-to-renew, the landlord will no-cause evict her or at least not renew her lease when it comes up.

reasons to move out:

1. nosey roommates who can't stay outta my room/my stuff

2. landlord who doesn't believe in MY right to keep and bear arms

I woulda spent the rest of the day finding a new place

This would never fly in Utah.

Utah has a statute that prohibits landlords from denying housing, evicting, or prohibiting legal firearm possession on leased property.

Get new roomates, take responsibility for the rent and sublet new roomies and make a profit.

Well, if she needs help with rent, I'll pitch in.

Someone should track down her email address and send her a link to this thread (for the advice).

Not quite what he said. A better summary would be he has a lease and whomever stays is responsible for 100% of the payment to him.

Most big cities are a bitch to find a good place so if I were her I'd stay and let the two intolerant hoplophobes move out. Given her 15 minutes of fame she shouldn't have trouble finding 2 roomies that aren't hoplophobes.

I agree, she should stay and the losers can go if they are uncomfortable.

Putting myself in that situation, if I found out my roommates had conducted an unauthorized entry and search of my room 'looking for what I might have because I was from a given state', I would move out immediately. There is no way in HELL I would stay in a living situation like that.

I would also see if any criminal charges or civil damages could be recovered.

Of course, I'm also just as vicious as to report to the landlord that my roomies had a lot of porn on their laptops and I was equally uncomfortable and therefore all should have to leave.

She was on Fox this morning. She already has plenty of legal assistance and local police say she’s fine. I predict this will work out in her favor.

Nobody should be surprised that this happened at Harvard. Cambridge MA is a petri-dish for the disease we all know as liberalism.

Looks like this rental company AVID that Dave runs has more than a few problems....Found some comments on YELP how it's run by former renters. This pretty much sums up my thoughts on what kind of place this is.

"I moved into Century Estates, run by Avid, 7/1/18 & left 9/29/18. I'm in agreement w/all 1star reviews & encourage users to also leave a formal complaint w/the BBB.

I attached pics of emails. I had to ask for 2wks (6/20-7/13) for parking pass/laundry card. Management lied about procedure w/the parking pass ("previous tenant may have it!" when that's not how the system works) as well as the condition of the apt. Why is the light fixture now illegal if per the message from 7/1 & signed statement in the lease: everything looks good! I don't believe anyone actually reviewed the apt prior onto our move-in. If fixture was illegal, why was it not removed before our lease started?

Dave neglected to give us an addendum about protocol for car registration for parking passes. Signed lease stated only proof of residency required but addendum stated their address is req on registration to receive a pass. I never signed in agreement to this & they refused to compromise, expecting me to re-inspect/re-register my car & get a new license bc I'm out of state.

I had 2 packages stolen in 2.5wks so I asked mgmt to install security cameras to protect our mail. They refused, but have cameras protecting all dumpsters, so I guess that's where their priorities are.

When I complained about the 2nd stolen package, again stressing need for cameras, Dave offered to let us break the lease - the only kindness he ever offered. He made us sign a statement to remove negative comments about Avid & refrain from negative comments to future tenants when WE showed the apt for him. I requested revisions before signing & felt coerced into signing w/o revision bc he threatened to revoke his offer. I was physically sick from the stress he & Avid caused over this: constant gagging, hives, hair loss, insomnia. Review was removed so I could leave in peace. Now that it's over, I refuse to stay silent about their apparent common treatment of tenants.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS any building run by Avid Management." +++LINK+++

Having seen the video, she’s gonna be just fine. Dropped the bit about many attorneys wanting to help, aired the whole thing very publicly, painting the other parties in a lousy light (entirely justified), then declines to say how she going to act ‘cause she’s busy with finals and not sure how the others want to proceed.

“Yeah, air support is overhead. Yes, they are loaded for bear. I don’t think they brought nukes with them, but sometimes those guys are quite zealous. So, do you want to start a fight, or are we good?”

She’s gonna make a fine attorney.
