You use a typical commie trick. Add in things I didn't say to make your point. That makes you a liar, not me. I don't like lazy firemen. The ones sort of given credit for "fighting" the subject fire didn't fight it at all. They just let it burn out. So yes, I don't like the lazy ones. Keep it straight, fire fighters fight fires. The ones that don't even get close are just lazy bums that suck up their unearned salaries and retirement. The fire burned itself out, it didn't go out due to efforts of the well paid "professional" firefighters. The ones that sat back and watched. They didn't dump one ounce of foam or sand on the thing. They watched from a safe distance. Like up across the Mason-Dixon line in Buckeye-ville. They didn't earn their generous salary last night. I even read it took them 2 hours to put the fire out. Well, not really. It took 2 hours for the fire to burn itself out. The media is complicit in the fraud. Maybe Gcode has heard it all before is because its true.

| Just saw this fire on Bret Baier show on Fox. Bridge that carries 180,000 cars per day to be closed for extended time. |

| Makes sense....attack the guy that may know a tad bit about the subject matter that you started complaining about....I won’t explain, you clearly know more than I and have a ton of experience with these things...as seen from a safe distance through binoculars. After all, I’m just a Commie and liar so there’s that. At least spell my screen name correctly please. When I joined here 12ish years ago I thought you were just grumpy in some of the knife threads...you’ve graduated to bitter old man...be proud man!

Could be a giant PITA. I am so happy I do not have to use that bridge. As much as I hate to say it. It may be quicker to use the I-275 by-pass, depending on the time of day.

| The other bridges are open, but politics kept them from getting good access ramps. My wife does the driving and she hates the interstate. We don't use the bridge all that much. The use of the other bridges depends on if you can get to them. My wifes driving style includes getting behind the slowest truck and staying there. It won't be a huge problem for us except for the other traffic. As for my fire fighting experience, it involves taking action instead of just watching from a distance. There was no fire fighting taking place last night, only watching from a distance. News flash just in: the all knowing Transportation Cabinet just shut down the Suspension Bridge. Its the easy bridge to get to and away from. If you ask how it could possible get worse, leave it to the Transportation Cabinet. Their rationale was there are now tractor trailers using it against regulations. You'd think they'd start giving away huge tickets for overweight vehicles. Easier to just shut it down. Again Government serving us..or their own interests.

If you're coming from outside the area, its easy. There is a circle freeway, I275, that is a loop road. Coming from north or south, you just take the one that pleases you. The problem being is it adds maybe an hour to the drive. As I posted above, they've just shut down one of the easiest and most accessible ones. Meaning going around starts to look attractive. Lucky fuel costs are way down.

| If you're coming from the south to the north. East on I-275 to North I-471, then north on I-71 boom its not out of the way adds only a few mins. Use the opposite of that if you are coming from the north. Only change is if you are coming from I-74 and or I-75. Just shoot down I-75 south to Fort Washington Way(I-71) then south on I-471. Watch the overhead freeway signs (ODOT and KYTC) for extra info and travel times. Not sure how we got bashing people on this??? Bridge closure might be till Jan 1.

No toll roads in that part of Indiana. The only toll road you'd have to deal with on that route (assuming you're coming from MI, and you stay off of 80/90 up north) is the stupid new I-65 bridge in Louisville...and you can get around it. We've started getting off of 65 just north of it and taking 265 to 64, to 264 back to 65. A bit longer but not by much, and I hate paying tolls. |

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should
| "A 50 foot steel I-beam When heated under fire conditions will expand longitudinally 6 inches and lose its tensile strength. More than once I’ve arrived at a commercial building fire and noted the exterior wall cracked and pushed out which compromises the roof support.....a bridge would be no different in losing its structural integrity." Strange that many people couldn't understand this exact concept when two large buildings caught fire in NYC years ago and collapsed. Back to the subject, the one in Atlanta a few years ago took out that very busy section of Interstate highway and was rebuilt in an amazingly short time. When government lets private industry take care of things and mostly gets out of the way things get done much more quickly.

| Just met my gun show partner for lunch. Went to Gen. Butler in Carrolton. The drive down was easier/better than normal. The first hint of trouble was at 275 with a huge backup coming north. Wife was driving and I told her to remember that. Still no traffic all the way down. Coming back traffic started to load up at the 71-75 split and kept getting worse. We bailed out at Donaldson road and drove in Dixie Hwy. Everyone seemed to have the same idea. Suburban traffic lights aren't timed to move traffic. You miss every light, sometimes twice. Some car operators (not drivers) sleep through most of a light until the person behind them wakes them up with a horn. Didn't take as long as I figured. Butler lodge wasn't very full. Our waitress/server, Savanna was really good, but Joe is cheap with his tip. His turn to buy. I'll make up for it next time. The discussion was about the next gun show (early Jan). Good show, lousy building.

It's only a few minutes when the bridge is still open. When it's closed and all the other traffic is going that way, especially the single lane ramp between 275 and 471, it can be longer. |

I saw the north bound backup from Florence as I was south 75 to Richwood. Trucks stopped up fast so the north bound detour must be slow going. Richwood and Walton are under major construction conditions. I've been across that bridge a few times but avoid it due to the bad road conditions north of the bridge. I havn't drivin rigs for many years now but most cities have Haz Mat routes around the city for placarded vehicles. Besides, I am never in a hurry so 275 is a nice drive. |

Its times like these that I regret living in the center of the action. We've learned the back routes and side roads. Please remember I didn't vote for the bastard Govenator. Do you still work at the flea market?
