PatriotI try not to take joy or good-thought in someone else's pain or bad breaks...
...but 79 is a good, long life...so his odds were growing thinner as he aged.
I didn't like the man for what he stood for and his political beliefs...and will not grieve for him. But I will pray for his soul...

ensigmatic1. I would not wish cancer on
anybody.
2. Nor will I celebrate somebody having cancer.
3. His departure doesn't matter. His district will vote in somebody as bad, or worse.

WolfpackerI know that this is a great gun forum. I also know that politics is a “dog eat dog” world.
However, my father passed away from pancreatic cancer. I would not wish it on my worst enemy. A few of the posts in this thread are shameful!!!
Very disappointing what people are willing to say.

I'm one of those members who have bad feelings toward him. Given what he has done with his power, I find it hard to sympathize with his plight and imminent doom. Think about the destruction he, as a member of the Democrat power structure, has caused. The loss of life. The loss of liberty. The loss of prosperity. The obstruction of justice. The imposition of injustice. And on and on. I know he didn't do it alone, but he was a cog. I think I was able to express myself carefully here, but in my heart, knowing that I should be far more selfless, my anger at this snake of the tyrant medusa makes me glad he'll be gone quickly. If he has to suffer on the way out, well, I think there is an eternity of that facing him on the other side.

I do have one question. When he gets to the pearly gates (if he does), will he try to play the race card to bluff his way into heaven? Will that work? Nope, didn't think so.

My father used to say that 75 years seems like a long time to live...unless you're 74. I will be 78 next birthday.

So he got his fair share and then some at the taxpayer trough. Not surprisingly, the people in his district didn't enjoy the largesse quite like he did. Gone and soon to be forgotten...

fpuhanIn the few minutes I've been up and had the radio on, I've heard multiple times about what as great civil rights leader he was and how he'll be mourned on both side of the aisle?
Huh?
Every time I saw or heard him speak, all I could think was, "Oh jeez, who let this buffoon in front of a mic?"
You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless.

mrapteam666He served for over 30 years in Congress, and in my opinion did everything he could to advance his own personal goals.
The people of the district he served is/no better or worse off than ever but some of that is their own fault because they kept re-electing him.
I did not care for him but he found a system that worked and used it to his advantage.
He is no different than any other politician. The sad part is they will probably re-elect someone just as bad or worse and someone who Lewis probably mentored
