If he's not institutionalized, he'll likely be dead before he's 14. Little tough guy looking for trouble is sure to find it.

Not at times for me. I 100% believe in Evil Incarnate. Demons absolutely take control of people.
A 6 year old is tough to wrap my head around that.

Not to drift the thread.
But watch the movie Nefarious it’s a great illustration of demon possession.
Also Sean Ryan has had a couple of Exorcists on his Podcast? They are worth the time.

You know, I used to think demonic possession was a myth. But after having seen what is becoming of some of humanity and our culture, I am convinced possession is happening to those who open themselves up to it. It’s the only way to explain the shameless evil that some do and defend.

This isn’t complicated. He probably is borderline retarded, because his parents are, and they are also the most vile obnoxious creatures that you can imagine.
Matt Walsh did a 45 minute episode on this little freak if you want to look it up and watch it or listen to it.

One single thought comes to Mind. That is "spare the Rod and Spoil the Child". Yes, I am a Baby Boomer, and Yes if I got out of line there would be painful consequences. And Yes I grew up to be a responsible Adult willing to help out a neighbor in need.

So, how many generations has it been since Aid to Dependent Children took Fathers out of the Home? What we are seeing today is a result of that and the reason why Fathers are so critical is because Male Humans are biologically programmed to be Dominant and the Father is who teaches Males to be RESPONSIBLY Dominant. What we have now are all those generations where the only Males to look up to are the most Dominant children in their neighborhood. Who are basically Thugs. All this kid is doing is being the Thug he was taught to be.

So what to do about this little monster. He is a Lost Cause. Best thing to do is find a whirlpool somewhere and drop him into it. Because we, as a society, are not willing to use the discipline required to correct his behavior. That would require a hard slap every time he mouthed off. It also requires a very obvious "good job" every time he does a task without question. Basically some one will have to walk that seesaw for the next 5 or 10 years until good behavior isn't a requirement it is truly Instinctive. Sad thing is that is what Fathers did until Washington decided to bar them from the Home.

I've stopped counting.

This is local to me so I'll give some news about him. According to the local news rag and his great grandfather he is living with his great grandfather, going to school in a neighboring city, and thriving under his care. There was an article about him just a few days ago.

Dystopian reality. He looks like a Chuckie doll on the lap of a profane ventriloquist. Props to the teacher pining him down and reasoning with him in a calm voice, can't imagine what it is like to be a teacher in that environment.

I saw that and heard that, and really didn’t even know what to say.

I was a scoutmaster for quite a number of years and saw some things that really opened my eyes about the changes in America’s family life and society.

In my Cub Scout den leader years I had single mothers come up to me and when I invited them to stay for the meeting, they would look at their phone and just say in a bored tone- “just tell me what time do I have to pick him up?”… and roar off. Many times they came back in an altered state, and quite a few times they didn’t come back at all, and we had to locate an appropriate family member.

On our first camping trip we had this one boy who was overall not a bad kid, but never got any attention at home and acted out. That night we had the kids getting ready for bed and this kid was jumping up and down on his sleeping bag and yelling at 10pm.
When I mentioned this to a fellow leader, he said “oh, he’ll be fine once he has his meds”….
Meds?, I said. “Yep, probably half of the kids are on some behavior/attention medication, which means we have to take them to the camp doctor as he is the only one allowed to dispense their medication.”

I thought to myself… HALF of the kids…. WTH

We saw occasions where (this was Western NY in winter, probably 16 or so degrees with snow), a “guardian" would drop off a kid for a weekend camping trip with no coat or hat, and often no sleeping bag. (In these cases we would always find gear and clothing for them somehow).
I understand how money is a challenge, but when I see the “parent” with a brand new phone and wearing abundant gold bling jewelry, it makes me wonder how why even a used winter coat is not obtainable.

I dunno-

Good to see a responsible adult male guiding him now but I don't agree with the victim status the news article assigns to the kid (deflection of family responsibility).

Newport News
Great-grandfather rebuilding life of boy who shot his teacher
by: Regina Mobley

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Spiderman overlooks a toy-filled box, Lego blocks and a variety of stylish tennis shoes. The boy who made national headlines sleeps in his bedroom every night with a collection of cozy stuffed toys on his bed. Recently, his great-grandfather overheard a prayer.

“He was praying for his mom and he was hoping that she would come home safely soon,” said Calvin Taylor, a retired U.S. Army drill sergeant.

In the next room is where the child found the gun he brought to Richneck Elementary School Jan. 6, 2023 and shot his teacher, Abby Zwerner.

Regina Mobley: The weapon was in a purse on the top of this dresser? Were you aware that a weapon was in your home?

Calvin Taylor: No. I know how to use weapons, but there are no weapons in this home.

Across the hall, there’s a small safe that’s not for guns, but car keys. When the boy was five years old, he took his mother’s car keys, started her car, and crashed into two parked cars.

Social services got involved, but Taylor said several systems failed the boy long before Jan. 6, 2023.

“He was a victim before that date,” Taylor said. “Because contrary to popular belief, I know they said that my granddaughter neglected him and placed him in precarious situations. But there were instances where she tried to get help. I drove her to certain places. My other daughters drove her to places to acquire help, even the safety plan that they put in place after the car incident. There was no follow-up.”

After Deja Taylor was sentenced to two years in prison for neglect in mid-December, Taylor told 10 On Your Side’s Andy Fox he was angry with his granddaughter and all the social service, criminal justice, and education systems that failed her and her son.

Regina Mobley: We know what you were angry about more than a year later. What is it that you’re grateful for?

Calvin Taylor: Well, I’m grateful that I have an opportunity to spend time with him daily and that I have an opportunity to watch him grow up as a young man without a lot of baggage. I’m also grateful that he understands that it was an egregious mistake and that he’s not going to be defined by that mistake.

Deja Taylor is behind bars after being sentenced to two years on state charges and 21 months on federal gun charges. Her grandfather hopes she will get her GED while in custody.

As for the seven-year-old, Taylor says his great-grandson’s grades are good, as he attends a different, undisclosed school. He loves to cook, and even making brownies for his family. He hopes to learn to ride a horse one day.

From Bing AI Overview:

York County News: 6‑Year‑Old Great‑Grandfather Story

A recent Newport News, VA report details how a great‑grandfather is helping rebuild the life of his 6‑year‑old grandson after a tragic school shooting and earlier child welfare issues.

The case
According to WAVY, Calvin Taylor — a retired U.S. Army drill sergeant — is the great‑grandfather of a boy who made national headlines in January 2023 when the child brought a gun to Richneck Elementary School and shot his teacher, Abby Zwerner.

The boy was five at the time; the weapon was found in a purse on a dresser in his home.

Taylor said he was unaware the gun was in the house, and that the child had a history of dangerous incidents, including a car accident at age five after taking his mother’s keys. Social services became involved, but Taylor believes multiple systems failed to follow up on the child’s needs.

Family and legal context
The boy’s mother, Deja Taylor, was sentenced in December 2025 to two years in state prison for neglect and 21 months for federal gun charges.

Calvin Taylor expressed anger at the systems that, in his view, failed both his granddaughter and her son, but also said he is grateful for the chance to spend daily time with his great‑grandson and help him grow without “a lot of baggage”.

Current situation
Taylor reports the boy’s grades are good, he attends a different school, and he enjoys cooking — even making brownies for the family. He hopes the child will learn to ride a horse one day.

Key takeaways
The story is from Newport News, VA, not York County, but it matches the “6‑year‑old great‑grandfather” detail in your query.

It combines a serious legal and safety case with a focus on family support and rehabilitation.

The great‑grandfather’s role is described as providing stability, guidance, and opportunities for the child to move forward.
