1980s and 1990s that is.
I was born in 1983 so my perspective for those decades I was just a kid. But man if I could go back I absolutely would.
Everything seemed so much slower and simpler. I think a big part of it was we did not have the news headlines blasting us in the face every second of the day.

Maybe it’s because I was a kid but I long for those days quite often. Been watching a lot of movies from that era and listening to music from then as well and I am just taken back.

Were the 80s and 90s as good as I remember or is it just because I was a kid and had no true understanding of life’s responsibilities?

Do I keep my memories? Hell yes, soo much I would do differently, not to mention being cashing in on .com stuff.

Brain reset to early 80's? Sure, I was ignorantly happy for the most part back then.

It's all a matter of perspective but I grew up in the 1950's. Now that was a much simpler time.

I liked the simplicity of my life, necessitated by my general financial destitution. By the 90’s the simplicity was gone having turned to survival.

I would return if I could be financially stable.

Early 80's for sure, cell phones and internet were scarce. Life was simpler and not so demanding.
None of the "need stuff right now", My first new car was a 1983 Toyota Tercel, the imports were dependable and cheap.
Service industry was strong, lots of manufacturing, if your coworker was worthless they were fired.
Worked for everything I owned, money seemed to go further.
I could ramble on, good times.

Absolutely, in a heartbeat. The 80’s would be fine, but the tech advances of the 90’s made things a little better. It was just enough to improve life, before the world plummeted into the hell of social media.

In the movie "The Matrix" there is a line, where Agent Smith tells Morpheus they set the simulation to the turn of the millennium as it's the peak of the human civilization.

First ones that come to mind:

1. I graduated high school in ‘81. Go back to the age and position I had in life at the time, but with the knowledge I have now? Tempting, but if you start messing with the time/space continuum there is no guarantee things will play out the same way and that knowledge could end up worthless.

At this point in life, not sure I would want to deal with those 45 years of life again, though I certainly would do lots of things different if I knew the outcome at the time I made the choices.


2. Go back and be my current age with my current resources (retired and reasonably comfortable/financially secure)? I would probably jump on that. Have the society of the 80’s to Y2K be my twilight years and miss out on the societal decay of the past 15 years or so would be pretty sweet.


3. Go back young, dumb, and full of… with no knowledge of what the future holds? No thanks. I turned out ok even with some regrettable life choices. I’m not willing to roll the dice on a second chance.

Oh man, I have many times thought how awesome it would be to do that! I didn’t consider the whole space time continuum thing, but I think it would still be pretty awesome. Most of the difference is not in specific things that happened (ie buy AAPL, or whatever), but having a better understanding of what’s really important and being better at listening to people. Those two things alone would have made those years even better for me.

Yeah, one thing I’ve learned is there is always a “catch”…

Just Pre-9-11 or hell just pre Obama would be fine.

I have a big problem fantasizing about such things because I know that I likely would not make all the contacts, friends, girlfriends etc that I met in the 'original timeline'.

When I think how unlikely it was to both meet and get together with my wife, the answer will always be a big fat nope.

Unless I could assure myself with 100% reliability that Obama would choke on a chicken bone in public back when he was still a 'community organizer' in the windy city. Then maybe I take one for the team.

I would prefer early 70s, late 60s.

If between the '80's and '90's, I'd go back to the '80's. I graduated hs, joined and completed my active duty enlistment in the USMC, and got married. I'm sure there were some details missed...Oh, Ronnie was the prez! What a wonderful time!

If I went back at my current age, I wouldn't have survived my heart attack 8 years ago. I had a cabbage ( quad bypass ) that most likely was not too common to have done in the early 80's.

For me anyway, things were better back then. Looking back and forward over time, I would have done just fine without cell phones and internet to this day.
I only use my cell phone for authorization stuff for the internet, It's off all but once a week.
I wish people wouldn't text and drive, that alone makes me wish them away.
Wrote a lot of checks back then, and the Post office actually delivered them.
The technology today seems to make life more difficult and stressful, it is, I guess, what you make it.

80's? Oh, HELL no. Peak of my problems with alcohol.

90's? Maybe, but as someone else said, messing with time would be unpredictable at best. Would be nice to be able to undo some stupid decisions tho.

I’m not sure I’d go back (messing with the continuum and all), but I do miss some of the good times I had in the mid-80s to early 90s.

Grew up in the 50's and 60's. It will Never be better than then.

I was born in 85, but moved to post-communist central Europe in 93, so grew up in what was at least technologically more like the 1950s here, for at least the first few years over there, and without the threat of the soviets/getting nuked.

That was an absolutely fantastic time, and I would love to go back if only to live it with a full appreciation of how good it actually was.

I spent my 20's in the 80's I would love to go back for a month or so in the 1980-85 time period.

But there is no way I would want to go through the last 45 years again.
