The "Retro" thing
These days it seems that many of us are nostalgic for the times "back in the day". Brownell's has their line of Retro AR's. Throwback sports jerseys are widely sold. The 1960's/70's muscle car design is being "re-imagined". Seems that every 1980's movie and TV show is being recycled. The US Army is going back to the World War II "pinks and greens" uniform.

I suppose that this only applies (generally) to those of us 50 or older.

So why the need for a retro frozen waffle?:

Just the box. I think the waffles are the same.

Nostalgia is big now. Anyone who likes the new '80s cans at Pepsi has to ask why it was such a good idea to change it in the first place.

I think many people over 50 are sick of the stupid Retro marketing. No one really likes pandering. It is almost as bad as social influencers.

I wish I could find some "retro" all cotton twill gym shorts with drawstring and elasticized waist.

It’s becsue a lot of those people that grew up with the “old” stuff now have disposable income to make purchases. Strictly marketing to tug at the youth of those with spending power.

Pretty much all of the consumer goods are either directly tied in or just looking to ride the marketing for this season of Stranger Things on Netflix.

Though a modern Datsun B210 would be cool. Or first gen Escort, in rally trim.

Windham Weaponry threw together a hodgepodge of A1 and A2 features to make their "A1 Government" Retro model. Some have called it an "A1.5". Probably a relatively quick and easy way for them to jump on the Throwback bandwagon.

Mom had both. B210 and Mercury Lynx RS.

I love watching Stranger Things, it's a snapshot of my childhood. Marketing is working on me. Reminds me of happiest times of my life, running around being a carefree kid.

I also love Stranger Things but the movie that takes me back to my childhood is 'Stand By Me'. Great plot and awesome music. Reminds me that I need to watch it again.

Of all the things going on in today's world that I find irritating, this one does not make the cut.

Had the pleasure of seeing Ben E. King sing that tune locally in a small venue in the early 2000s.

The movie does for me as well, not the era in which it takes place, but watching the movie. I almost wore out that BetaMax watching it as a kid. I watch it every time it comes on.

I'll be all in for retro when they bring back the '57 Pontiac Star Chief with the 347 with tri-power.
