The cracked glass protector is a non issue. The verizon employee who installed seemed to struggle to get it on and assume it broken in that process. I just have not been back to have it replaced.
Yes the battery life sucks. Needing to charge every day seems stupid. I do not even consider myself a heavy user and the battery still sucks.
Other than that the phone seems ok as I have said. Not very intuitive. But not horrible. I see nothing that screams security over android.
I think the apple echo system (whatever that is) is a gimmick. Yea there is imessaging, ok.
I don't hate it other than the battery. It isn't anything over and android that I can tell so far. It is just ok.

A few people at work have 17s and like them. I am still on my 14promax and not going to change anytime soon. Everyone makes fun of me because my phone has screen burn in.

It works. It's paid off. What more do I need?

You can get a 10,000 mah Phone Case with extended battery for less than $40 on Amazon if you really are averse to charging overnight, but it sounds like you should just go back to an Android if there is nothing else about the iPhone that is going to make you happy.

If it is a phone only and you don’t have an iPad or Apple Computer that you want have all in sync, maybe iPhone just isn’t for you.

If you primary concern is battery life over performance and apps, make sure you focus on battery size and estimated use time instead of screen resolution, display brightness, cameras, CPU, etc.

We do have a Mac M4 desk top and and older Ipad. To be honest, to this point I am not seeing any advantage to them in some kind of "echo system" or whatever they call it.

I guess I had higher hopes for this phone.

I have a 15 pro Max and have had I-phones for about 15 years.
Usually update at 2-3 versions when there's still some reasonable trade in and the new version is enough of an improvement to make it worthwhile.
I plug in at bed time each night and have never come close to using all the battery.

You can get one direct from Apple for $746 with the Veteran discount. Advantage to doing it this way is that you're not tied to Verizon; you can pick your carrier, and switch whenever you want to.

Yes, I have the 17 Pro. It is more or less the same as my last two or three iPhone xx Pros. Battery life is fine. Gets my all the way through the day with more than average usage (a beach vacation, and now I'm laid up post spinal fusion surgery, so I'm on it a lot). Usually has 30-60% left or more at the end of the day. My theory is that if it lasts longer than I do, and I charge overnight, what's the issue? I'd rather less superfluous battery weight than more battery that I need between charging.

I don't use a case or screen protectors. I have never cracked a screen -- iPhone user since 2009. I'm lucky I guess, (knock on wood), though I personally believe people with cases drop their phones way more than I do. And when I've tried cases, I did too.

Can't speak to Androids. I am sure they're good too.

Really!? iCloud photo sync, iMessages synced on both devices? iCloud files? Browser bookmark sync, Find My?

I guess if you aren't using that stuff, go grab an Android. I consistently hear about their numbers/specs being super good.

Love my 17 Pro Max and would never consider going back!!

I put it on the charger when I go to bed, ready to go in the morning for 24 hours if needed.

Photo function is stupid good as well! I almost never break out my Nikon gear - only when being really serious with various lenses.

Your money, your choice!!

I have a 17ProMax and love it. Battery life is awesome IMHO. Not sure I could ever switch back to android.

100% agree. OP is obviously not using the "echo system" The "find my" feature to find the phone and other apple devices and apple air tags to find and track expensive items have save my butt many times. The quality of the phone build and the stability of the operating system. I go months without even needing to reboot my phone it is so stable. The integration of this phone in an Apple home is amazing and your list above is quite literally just scratching the surface.

Now in honesty Siri and current Apple AI efforts sucks testicles. But that will change with some of the partnerships that they are working on, and the other features of the eco system that do work are worth the wait because when they get AI right inside Siri it will be even more game changing.

I've had a 17 pro for about 9 months now. I upgraded from iPhone X, so battery life is incredible in comparison, as is the camera and storage. Maybe you got a lemon battery?

Mine is not a pro or pro max. Just a regular 17

I would suspect that you have either something corrupted in the phone software, or else a bum battery. Take it back to the store and tell them your experience. Apple generally exhibits good customer service.

I have used an iphone 17 Pro Max since about the end of October last year. It has demonstrated the best battery performance I have had with an iphone.

I did a practical test just to see how long I could use it and it lasted almost three days without charging. I get quite a few calls daily with sometimes an hour of conference calls each and do a good bit of reluctant texting. I also have hearing aids paired via bluetooth most of the day, and also a live feed app from security cameras.

I always use a bulky Otterbox Defender case because I am hard on phones.

I have heard from some of my influencer friends who juggle a massive level of social media involvement across multiple apps- that they experience extremely poor phone battery life. (They evidently get a beep or notice whenever anyone in the Facebook world posts).

Obviously, mileage may vary.

My regular 17 uses typically about 10% battery all day if I don't use the screen much. I listen to podcasts and music via bluetooth typically. It shows 90% battery when I put on the charger at bedtime.

If I am traveling and scrolling the internet some, it still has 80% remaining battery at bedtime.

My iPhone 13 Pro battery lasts a couple days unless Bluetooth is turned on. I seldom turn it on but it seems be back on after most updates so I have to remember to turn it back off.

So I bought the extended battery case from my earlier post for my iPhone 17 pro max.

From fully charged starting my day at 6 am on Tuesday, I was at 32% charge Thursday night going to bed at 10 pm. Three full days of use without charging, full time location going for use with a tracking app.

Lots of screen time, email, videos, etc.


If you are really averse to charging overnight, battery case is an alternative.

Very happy with my 17. Any beefs would be iOS related I guess. I had a 15, but the 15 was an emergency replacement purchase at that time and with only 128GB. 128GB quickly became debilitating. So, traded for a 17 with 256.
