I understand court houses. But will this hold up once challenged by RMGO or some other such entity?

It appears that Pre-Emption would trump that

Universal Citation: CO Rev Stat § 29-11.7-103 (2016)

A local government may not enact an ordinance, regulation, or other law that prohibits the sale, purchase, or possession of a firearm that a person may lawfully sell, purchase, or possess under state or federal law. Any such ordinance, regulation, or other law enacted by a local government prior to March 18, 2003, is void and unenforceable.

As much as I disagree with this move by Aspen, it pales in comparison to the draconian anti-gun laws that Boulder passed a couple years ago.

Given that this is Aspen/ Pitkin County I'm surprised that ordinances like this weren't enacted years ago. At least this prohibition is temporary, although I fully expect that the Democrat controlled municipality will use this occasion to set precedent and move to make it permanent.

The commissioner who quotes Johnny Cash at the end of the article must be a real special kind of jackass.

This crap is one of the reasons that I disclose Denver as my birthplace only on necessary documents. I've called myself a Texan since coming here in high school in 1970.

I love Johnnie Cash music, but he apparently did align himself more as a democrat...
