And, we're handwashing for a bit.

Went to run it last night & thought I'd look under to see if I could pinpoint the noise a bit better.
DW wasn't making much of any noise & I was greeted with a bright arc underneath. Thought it was a warning light on the motor until I realized what was going on.

So now, I'm parts shopping, anyone have a reliable parts source that might be a bit cheaper than LG direct?

ABT72989205 is the casing pump, which from the diagrams looks to be where I saw the arc from.
$282.85 from LG direct, have seen +/- $50 from a few places I've never heard of.
LG also shows ABT72989201 as an equivalent part for around $30 less, but doesn't list my model as compatible.

Does the whining noise sound anything like …

“I wish I weeeeerrrrrreeeee aaaa Booooosssssscccchhh”?

Here’s a parts supplier I know of that’s gotten me out of a few jams. Maybe they can help? Give them a call if you have a question. Good luck.

I've had luck just putting the part number into Amazon, usually find plenty of sources, and google which will come up with multiple supply houses and it's a process of elimination to find the best price.

If the parts are $250 I'd scrap it and buy a new one, right now a GE at Lowes is on sale for $549, normally $899, probably model clearance so for a few bucks more you'd have a nice new washer.

Link Lowes

Costco has plenty in that price range and up

I've seen all sorts of debris get in the impeller and make noise.

Straws, bread ties, coffee stirrers.

I suppose it's worth pulling to see if it's snagged up.

Got the pump [1 of 2 i believe] out, don't see anything inside, but also see no way to disassemble.

Pretty confident this one is what was bad, and don't really see any method to get to the other without disassembling more than I'd like to.

Chunks of bone, bits of foil, lots of things get stuck

My guess is that something is caught in there

I think the final verdict is HRK's take.
Spending $300 on a part that might not fix it vs 600 on a new Whirlpool, both of which will take 3 days to get here.

Thinking the new dw is the better option.

Edit: Ordered from HD, then looked at Lowes & found the same model for nearly $100 less, and I'll have it tomorrow instead of Wednesday.
Canceled the HD order & reordered from Lowes

Delivered Sunday morning, had it installed by about noon, with a quick HD trip for a fill hose adapter.
The LG was rated at 48db, this Whirlpool is 55db.
Frankly, I don't really notice that it's much louder. Much simpler, that's for sure.

Doesn't quite match the darker chrome of the other LG appliances, kitchen sink & stove, but not a clash, IMO.

Was a bit of a pain to install, the leveling feet wouldn't extend enough to raise it enough to attached the top brackets to the countertop. Had to shim the bottom to get it fit right.
Also, the metal frame just inside from the door was about 1/8" too wide to fit in the opening. Had to modify just a bit to get it to fit.
