Recent development, our dishwasher has started making a lot of noise when running. Sounds like it's from beneath, almost sounds like a whining power steering pump on a car.

Will provide the model number when I get home. Not sure if this is a pump/part that I can replace myself & avoid having to potentially replace the DW.

I have been thinking about an LG TV but with all the washer and dryer, refrigerator and dishwasher problems with LG I am thinking not.

If the house hadn't come with it, an LG wouldn't have made the shortlist for DW, nor fridge or washer/dryer. We're Samsung on all our TVs except 1 Vizio that my wife's grandmother gave us & is in the master/rarely used.
Our Whirlpool Cabrio W & D have been great for over 10 years.

Frigidaire is another never again group for appliances. Had issues with the DW & fridge at our old house.

Once I have the LG model for the DW, hopefully I can come up with a parts schematic so I can try to narrow it down.
Will give me excuse to pull the DW & properly level it too. As it sits, the top drawer constantly tries to retract/won't stay out/open.

TV's I think you're fine with LG, same also with certain washer/drier models but, their fridges resemble smartphones. Way too many features that really end up complicating its operations.

As for dishwasher, we've had two Boschs, they were rockstars, recently moved and got a GE Profile along with a fridge, not quite as nice as the Bosch but, so far so good. Bosch arguably has the best assortment across a range of price-points, Fisher-Pakel I really like on the upper-end, especially like their dual-drawer feature.

A friend of mine, who owned a service business for high dollar import cars, used to wear a T-shirt that said "The bearings are shot."

Looking through the schematics, thinking the circulation pump, since the noise occurs at startup & not just when draining.

When my dishwasher started whining, I shut the kitchen door and turned the TV up. Never heard a thing. She gave up complaining after a while.

It's likely the bearings in the pump motor that are failing. I recently had to replace a failing motor in a 20 YO Kitchen Aid Dishwasher, but ended up replacing the complete pump/motor assembly as it was cheaper (by a lot...Like half!) vs. the price for the motor only. It went from sounding like a fork lift to whisper quiet, just like that!

On a dishwasher, the drain pump is the first thing to run at start-up. The second thing is the water valve, then once filled with water, the circulation pump.

I'd check the drain pump if this is at start-up.

Took some video of the noise last night, still need to figure out how to post here.
It's almost immediately on startup, then a long pause, and starts up again.

Thanks, my mind was thinking the opposite, and from a quick browse last night, the drain pump is about 1/3 the price of the circulation pump.

Not all dishwashers are created equal...On my Kitchen Aid (by Whirlpool), provided the previous wash cycle completed (which is indicated on the concole of the top edge of the door), the first thing to 'run' is the water fill valve.

I had a washer start to whine. I studied the problem for a while and saw it only occurred when I used a liquid detergent that foamed a lot, or when my wife put multiple packets of soap in the wash. Then foaming resulted in the circulation pump trying to pump aerated liquid. When I quit using the liquid soap, the issue stopped. Same with wife’s extra soap

No change there, been using the same tablets for months before the noise started.

We'll see if this'll work, good video of the noise it makes.

Doesn't sound that loud in the video...Mine literally sounded like a fork lift! Regardless, take the lower valance/sound insulating trim/cover off and get your head down on the floor. Maybe even get you hands under there and you'll be able to figure out exactly what it is...Just sayin'

Significantly louder than normal operation, for sure.

May I assure you that the LG dishwasher is perfectly maintainable. If a pump were to stop working, I would simply order a replacement and install it. A little prior planning and you can set up a nice blanket to protect the floor, bring the unit out, tip it over, and work on either side or bottom. The engineering is very good.

I successfully removed a pivot pin from a Zyliss cheese grater that was stopping a drain pump from rotating. I was able to pull the pump cover, remove the impeller blockage, and put it all back together. Yes, it takes a bit of doing, but we're talking unscrewing a few panels for access, opening a few hose clamps, and pulling off an electrical harness.

It will be OK. You can do this.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, it's just down to figuring out if it's the $80 drain pump of the $235 circulation pump. Rather not order the wrong one unnecessarily.

Update, DW had this error code this morning
I don't recall seeing a wash motor in the parts list I skimmed, will have to look more.
