Hole Lee Chit........ So, I take my pups out for a little walk/potty break. We're walking down the road and Ahyoka alerts to something, but she's not defensive. I look around and see a coyote pup just about 15 yards from us to the rear, left of me. Ahyoka and Sequoyah just are looking at this pup, they are all wagging their tails. The coyote pup follows us almost half mile. We go just a bit further away and Ahyoka alerts again, none defensive, wagging her tail, then Sequoyah starts to make his "happy chirping sounds" I shine the flashlight and about then a fox kit comes out into the road about 10 yards in front of us, lays down on its back wags its tail and goes "HeHeHehhhheeeHe" my pups just wags their tails and stay quiet, except for Sequoyah's "Happy Chirping Sounds". The fox kit gets up off the road and disappears into the bush. But wait, there's more. We go just a bit further, 2th mile away and Ahyoka alerts again, none defensive. I look around and see what I think it 5 or 6 deer, just barley out of range of my flashlight. The next thing I know, I see something bounding towards us. My pups remain calm, which is amazing especially for my Sequoyah, he's nuts! I see the deer pacing back and forth and the thing bounding towards us is now visible. It's a fawn! It stops like 10 feet from us wagging it's tail. My pups wagging their tail, the boy making his "Happy Chirping Sounds" they all are quiet, but kind of hoppin around with excitement. It was surreal, kind of story book shit. I almost expected butterfly and rainbows to appear! Why my pups, especially Sequoyah didn't go apeshit is beyond me! Why these three, obviously young critters approached us is beyond me. I'm kind of in disbelief. Especially with my pups not going crazy! They seem to know, understand that there was no danger, and happy to see "new friends". I don't know, maybe this was God's way of making up for a terrible Thursday/Friday?!? Whatever it was, I'm glad I got to experience it! Just so weird, surreal. Almost storybook. ARman

Very cool! Must have been World Friendly Animals day yesterday. I was making a LOT of noise with my tractor and a fox wandered out of the brush and proceeds to hunt mice in the tall(ish) grass about 50 feet from me. Not a care in the world. Now that I don't have livestock to protect, I can just enjoy watching such things. Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

Beautiful day in the Yoop yesterday. I was on my back patio enjoying it and my resident, normally shy, Cottontail hopped up and sat with me for a few minutes. End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

I had an unusual animal encounter myself the other day. Being that my office is the company truck I try to find trees to park under for shade while doing paperwork. Was parked in the back of a church under some big oak trees. I was probably 4 feet or so from the tree. I see a squirrel running up and down the tree trunk. Looked cute but really paid no mind. Then is stopped on the ground in line with my window and started dancing almost like it wanted to get my attention. As I looked at it something looked weird its belly area was bright pink which was weird because their bellies are usually white/grey fuzz. Then while standing on its hind legs just like in the Lion King it held the pink ball up in the air for me to see. It was holding up a fresh pink, eyes still closed baby!!!! I swear this little squirrel had been trying to get my attention to show off its new baby to me. I was not quick enough with the camera to get a picture of it holding the baby out for me to see but did get one when she was holding it close. ![]() ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. I will be your brother, and I'll hold your hand. You should know I'll be there for you!

Well, we ran into the coyote pup again. Ahyoka alerted to something, I turned on the flashlight and looked around and there he/she was, about 25 yards away. He/she followed us for a bit, wagging it's tail. Ahyoka Star and Sequoyah never went Crazy, and they just wagged their tails. He/she broke off following us at about half mile mark. When we got back closer to the house he/she was standing in the neighbors yard laying down wagging it tail. Again, Ahyoka alerted to its presence, but both her and Sequoyah never made a sound, just wagged their tails. I told a neighbor about the first encounter and he told me that he saw a coyote pup in his driveway the day after we encountered it. It's very young, it seems very interested, but weary, but wants to engage. Both myself and neighbor noticed that we haven't heard any coyote activity in over a month and a half to two months. There are usually three "clans" and there hasn't been a "beep" or "peep" from them. We was wondering if he/she has been separated from one of the "clans" or been kicked out for some reason? He/she seems healthy. Doesn't seem aggressive. Acts more like a dog than a coyote, but IS definitely a coyote. ARman

I have not yet begun to procrastinate |
Momma might have been nearby, just out of visual range. Sounds like a great time to be walking the pups! Pretty cool to have other baby encounters. AZ hunt unit 4b (friend has a house there) had a huge rabies die off hit the coyotes hard in the last few years. They are few and far between nowadays. -------- After the game, the King and the pawn go into the same box.

So let it be written, so let it be done... ![]() |
It is weird... although I've heard that tail wagging from a coyote doesn't mean the same thing as from a dog - as in its not necessarily a happy/friendly signal. 'veritas non verba magistri'

Thought process? : "Anything making that much noise can't be hunting." Or else: "That noisy monster scared off all my enemies, and has deafened the mice." === I would like to apologize to anyone I have *not* offended. Please be patient. I will get to you shortly.
