I don't stay on any forum with the perpetually offended, but it is odd to be all up in arms over various societal missteps on Reddit given some of the content there that Potter Stewart would have known is porn were he to see it. I use and read the Reddit app and find great entertainment value in it with some occasional insight. It should be renamed "ComplainIT" because it seems like a giant bitch fest most of the time depending on the sub-Reddit. One reason I started reading it was to gain a better understanding of how Millennials think. Still trying... I especially like the Seattle sub to read because, as you can imagine, it's very Democrat and liberal focused with a guaranteed meltdown daily. I once replied that 'You get the City Council you voted for..' and received 35 downvotes within an hour. 'BoomersBeingFools' has 738k subscribers. Naturally, Boomers are the blame for anything and everything bad happening to 18-30 year old. However, there are some really good sub-Reddit forums depending on what you're into so I continue to read it daily. Thankfully, WAGuns is represented with its own sub-reddit.

There's two Seattle subs, and two Washington gun subs. r/Seattle is filled with Blue No Matter Who drones, while r/SeattleWA is a bit more balanced. Same goes for r/WA_Guns, that's the local sub for the Temporary Gun Owners, r/WAguns is where you go if you want to actually discuss guns and gun laws here.

I would not be surprised that one day they find that Reddit is actually 60% CCP troll farms, it sure seems that way to me. The average age for a whole lot of subreddits also appears to be like 17 year old clueless kids by the way they spell and phrase things like “My Mom says this” or “My Dad did that”. Have you all noticed how Reddit appears at the top of any Google search now too? They must have a deal with them or something.

No doubt it's full of bots, both artificial and meat, as well as True Believer types. The astroturfing right now is incredible. Lots of subs being suggested to me with posts that are all written similarly imploring people to vote blue down ticket, fight fascism, freedom and democracy is at stake, our daughter's futures are on the line, etcetera and so forth. I don't want to jinx anything, but should things go well for Trump on Tuesday, Reddit is going to be a wild place to watch.

I imagine whatever bots are infecting Reddit are concentrated on the political or serious areas. I just look at stuff more light hearted like dogs or cars or guns ~ cool stuff. I don't need to converse about politics with idiots.

Deleted my account and the app last night. This platform is just too toxic and not worth it: https://x.com/reddit_lies/stat...572981248303475?s=46 So now the hate shifts from Boomers to Zoomers for voting Trump?

One can cherry-pick posts from any two subreddits to make just about any comparison. It's not surprising that you can find a kind and friendly meme in a subreddit called "Wholesome Memes". It's right there in the name. And it's no surprise that a subreddit called "Fuck You Zoomers" would be filled with posts hate Zoomers. Again, it's right there in the name. Just because a subreddit for a particular niche topic has a few thousand members doesn't mean that every one of the 500M+ Reddit members in each of the 100K+ subreddits supports that topic. Or even a majority. But I agree that there's a lot of toxicity in certain corners of Reddit. That's true for just about any social media these days, especially when dealing specifically with political topics. This forum can even get pretty heated when dealing with certain topics as well, even with a better-behaved and more well-moderated crowd than all the other platforms. It's why I limit myself to the subreddits dealing with practical stuff like home improvement tips, car repairs, electronics reviews, military history, etc. Those tend to avoid basically all of the bots and political drama, especially if their moderators are up to snuff. Nobody's in the middle of a Reddit thread about spark plugs or the Crimean War shouting "Fuck Trump! Fuck Boomers! Fuck Gen Z! Respect my pronouns!", and even if they did, the comment would be swiftly deleted by a moderator. So it's possible to avoid the bullshit drama, without feeling like you have to avoid the entire platform. That's too broad of a brush. It'd be like deleting your entire Sigforum account because you don't like Glocks or cats.

I deleted reddit after realizing I was spending too much time scrolling through things that have no bearing on my life.

I'm taking a break from Reddit because they're making me. As I noted in the DJT presidency thread, some local Temporary Gun Owner felt way too called out, and I got reported for encouraging violence. I appealed and they of course found I was still in the wrong. Whoda thunk that joking about how angry lefties probably shouldn't go out and buy guns right now would be encouraging violence? But then again I haven't smoked myself retarded, and even occasionally leave my echo chambers to see what the rest of the world is up too.
