Staring back from the abyss |
This REALLY works well. I've always had a metric shit-ton of paper wasps around my place. It freaked me out and I thought that I was in some cheesy '70s horror film for a time when I first moved out here. Thankfully, they are very docile and despite having thousands of them flying around doing their thing, I've had no issues with them at all. The yellowjackets are a different story. This year it has been kind of spooky and they are everywhere. Particularly, I found 6 or 7 hives around my woodpile the other day as I was splitting and stacking my firewood for the year. I went out in the evening and sprayed them down with the foam stuff. Killed the nests and hundreds of YJs, but there were still a few thousand buzzing around making me quite nervous. I put one of these homemade traps out today and with hours I had to empty out the container three times as it kept getting too full of dead YJs to take any more. ________________________________________________________ "Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil." As a city dwelling, transplanted farm boy, I've found it is best to resist my urges to use fire, explosives and guns to deal with pests of any nature.....my life is sad. I'll be trying those! Thank you!

This. The foam sticks to the little bastards and kills them DRT and will get any stragglers that return late. I buy a couple cases of the stuff every spring and we go to war, if we didn't we would be overrun with them. CMSGT USAF (Retired) Chief of Police (Retired)

This method has always worked for me with yellow jacket nests in the ground. If you dig up the nest the next day you will be very surprised at the size of the nest and number of dead bees in there!!As mentioned you need to wait until after dark to be sure all of the workers are back home. If we meet and you forget me you have lost nothing but if you meet Jesus Christ and forget Him you have lost everything.
