……I’ve ever seen
Eek

As most folks that cook on a regular basis, I’m always keeping an eye out for a good recipe. Some catch your attention just by the name (Creamed cheese banana bread with orange pecan topping). Some, like Creole green beans, you have to look at the ingredients and based on experience, you determine that it sounds like it would be a good dish. On a few occasions, I’ve seen recipes that sound down-right nasty but the one below takes the cake (no pun intended).

Looks like some silly gluten free recipe. They are getting fat from the avacado. Probably don't even taste it.

These go to eleven.

I bet it's actually pretty good (and fairly healthy). I'd try it, probably can't taste the avacado, the cocoa will totally over-power it.

I would pass on it. Another bad combination (not mixed together) is single malt scotch, brie cheese, and nacho chips.

I will also offer for your consideration oatmeal encrusted fried herring filets with beetroot or gooseberry sauce.

I'm sure that a lot of people would say the same thing about my wife's zucchini chocolate cake. It is far and away the best cake I ever eat. Moist, chocolaty and low fat. I'd give it a try if avocados weren't so expensive right now.

Actually, zucchini choc cake sounds awesome. And I’d be willing to give this a try..

I have a cookbook of desserts from Houston area restaurants. There is a recipe for baklava tart from The Rainbow Lodge. It includes a black olive caramel sauce. It is pretty tasty. I made it for family and no one could guess the secret ingredient.

That does sound gross. To be fair, I think the only acceptable use for avocados is guacamole as I hate the texture of them in any other form.

In my family, we have a gross sounding recipe that is surprisingly absolutely delicious. My Mom found a recipe for cottage cheese pancakes. The only downside is that you have to make the batter the night before.

Does anyone on this forum remember the sauerkraut chocolate cake recipe from the 60's? It was good and the kraut was undetectable.

reason for edit: too many 6's in original post

It really was good. The kraut made the cake nice and moist and even if you knew what was in the cake recipe you could not discern any taste other than chocolate cake.

I used to date a girl who was Mexican. They eat Menudo, which is a tripe soup. Tripe is cow stomach. It's actually doesn't taste too bad, if you don't know what's in it. Plain tripe smells awful. I am a pretty good cook, so I tried making it once. I think the key is rinsing the tripe to get the smell out...I didn't know that when I made it. My menudo didn't taste too bad, but I just couldn't get past the smell. I wound up throwing most of it out.

My grandmother made that cake sometime in the early 80s. The family wasn't very enthusiastic. She also made a cookie recipe that had instant potato flakes--likely from the 60s as well. The cookies were actually pretty good and didn't taste like potato.

There is a chocolate cake made with mayo. It even has appeared in Southern Living. Smile I would try the chocolate/mayo cake long before I tried chocolate/avocado.
