So, I live in a a rural city in Tennessee and it's the County Seat. To give yu an idea of how rural, Walmart is the grocery store and the next nearest grocery store (Kroger) is 25 miles away with the nearest Costco is 40 miles away in Huntsville.

The main thoroughfare through town (east/west direction) speed limit drops from 55 mph to 40 mph then to 30 mph within the whole city. This main thoroughfare also leads through the center of town and the county courthouse with, for about three miles through the center, with angled parking and five [timed] stop lights. IMHO I feel the speed limit should be 20 or 25 due to the tightness when cars are parked.

So...

As I leave Walmart I get behind a car who appeared to have just received a ticket from a TN State Trooper. (Trooper was just getting back into his car with the infamous ticket book in-hand.) Said car I am following [and I] head into the main part of town (about 4-5 miles away) at 30 mph.

As we come to the timed lights previously mentioned the second (or third?) light turns yellow and the car I am following guns it to beat the yellow. He was doing maybe 50 mph and the light was a solid red when he entered the intersection.

Waiting in the cross-traffic was an unmarked city police car (only a VERY low profile light bar on top and black push bar to match the vehicle color). Said copper was quick to turn on said light bar and pull over the other car.

Two tickets (presuming the city police was also giving a ticket) in less than 30 minutes and 10 miles of travel.

Yes, I was laughing

I'd be inclined to hang up the keys for a little bit after a day like that.

Back in the 1980s, a cousin of mine got 2 speeding tickets on the same weekend, from the same policeman, in the same town. One going home from college (Friday), and one going back to college (Sunday). He had a plain Camaro with a V6.

Funny thing, at that time, I had a Z-28 the same color as his car, but I never got a speeding ticket while I had it.

He was probably wired up/p***** off that he got ticket #1 and as a result got ticket #2.

There is such a thing as rotten luck too but obviously not in this instance. Long time ago (!) I had to go to Juvenile Court in Michigan for a traffic violation, standard procedure for one until teens had their license for one year.

Went to court, actually a referee hearing, no fine but 30 days no motorcycle operation as this was my second motorcycle related traffic ticket that year, first was a muffler ticket, second was speeding.

Left court, dropped my mother off at work, pulled out of the parking lot and was promptly struck by a drunk driver mid afternoon.

What a day, at least he got the ticket.

I was 18 years old in 1988 when I got my first ticket. Suffolk county highway patrol in NY, 71/55.

Drove to Virginia to see friends the next day.
That evening I got my second ticket, same speed, 71/55.

One of my friends said maybe I’ll get a warning.
