I can't tell if I'm tired, or just lazy |
I have a 226 that I bought as a duty weapon back in the '80's. You won't have a rust problem as long as you take care of it. _____________________________ "The problems we face today exist because the people who work for a living are outnumbered by those who vote for a living." How often should I change ammo in the magazine? Meaning, how long does the spring last while keeping ammo in the mag? I'll have some magazines that will be in my go bag until I need them.

Just for the hell of it |
Welcome to the club. The P226 is my favorite Sig.
Springs wear more from usage then storage. You should be good to go. For dry firing, I always stuffed a foam earplug in the slide where the hammer will fall. Hammer falls on the foam plug and your good to go. Just remember to remove it when your done dry firing. _____________________________________ Because in the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing your lawn. Welcome, TxAg2007!!! Man, there is nothin' like a SIG! My favorite is probably my M11A1. But the P239 and P250 are pretty darn sweet too. You'll find . . . a) there are as many opinions about cleaning/lubrication methods as there are SIG owners. Everyone thinks their way is the "best" way. Find the products & methods that work for you. b) these guys are correct . . . SIG's can be an addictive (and expensive) habit. Now that you have the P226, don't you really something more compact for EDC? Maybe a P225A1. Or how about something like the guys in the military are now using, like a P320. Composite frame, modular concept, striker-fired . . . don't have one of those yet, do you? (and don't you DARE say "Oh, its just like my Glock".) And you don't have a .45 yet do you? Oooooo . . . how about a P220 in .45ACP? See, its a slippery slope.
