Casio Protrek PRW-35 It's everything a G-shock is in a reasonable size, more especially for a woman. ___________________________ The point is, who will stop me?

I agree with Perception, get her a really nice flashlight. Its required equipment and a powerful small flashlight is a must for any aviator. I am partial to Surefire but when friend of my son made Captain at his first airline I bought him a nice Fenix that was engraved with Captain XXXXXX. Ordering the engraving was easy on their website. Made for a really nice keepsake and I think he very much appreciated it.

I'll second the idea of a GOOD headset - some pilots have more than one model based on the airplane model or flight length. Some of the smaller units today are much better than the old full-size headsets of the past. If you go this route, don't buy one for her - have her try out a couple and select which fits her best.

Personal experience: polarized sunglasses and many types of aviation display screens are a terrible combination. Costco sunglass lenses are only available polarized. I had to go to a much more expensive optical shop in order to get lenses that were not polarized. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

Get her "Great Circle" by Maggie Shipstead, a novel about a female pilot. It's really good, a lot of interesting characters. "Nature scares me" a quote by my friend Bob after a rough day at sea.

Thanks, just ordered one. Beware their website, totally automated, hit "Pay Now" and it bills card and designates shipping without asking any further questions. I've got an e-mail into them requesting to change the shipping address from me in Alaska to my daughter in Arizona. Hopefully it works, otherwise she may be getting a very well travelled pilot's bag. My daughter can deflate your daughter's soccer ball.

Looks like a great gift idea. Getting it personalized in some manner? Perhaps a riveted dog tag on the flap like this... https://www.luckypet.com/products/rivet-on-dog-tags

That and the Aviators would be really bad ass. Just give her one of the two, wrapped up. Then do the pause, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, whatever. Then “Oh wait a minute, I forgot I had one more” then bust her with the 2nd. Ear to ear grin, and Dad of the year! What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

My wife got around the polarized only at Costco by getting “transitions” lens there that are more clear, but auto darken when exposed to UV. So far she is less than thrilled… Another thought is training. I did what started out as an EMT (Emergency Maneuvers Training) course, five hours of ground and five hours of flight in a Decathlon or Super Decathlon (150hp fixed pitch or 180hp constant speed, otherwise same airframe) with Rich Stowell and had so much fun that added the other three and three to turn it into the Basic Aerobatic Course. Gliders are also a heck of a lot of fun and have much to teach the powered aircraft pilot. Seaplanes are another hoot! One of the more fun things we did while visiting friends in Seattle (He was a former Director of Operations and Chief Pilot at a commuter airline associated with American Airlines) was rent a Dehaviland Beaver and an instructor for an hour and a half. He, my wife (with a single engine seaplane rating), and I (also with an SES rating) had about a half hour each splashing around local lakes and it was a blast! Heck, I’ve never flown skiplanes, but I’ll bet that an hour or so with an instructor in your current neck of the woods would be a blast if she comes to visit much. Then again, when the wife and I were talking about what to get our son for a graduation present, she was thinking watch and asked me what I thought. My question was what caliber? ![]()
