This is what I got yesterday. Checked again today and it said I was affected. Try again. You should get a Yes or No.

The credit bureaus tout their data as being error free but I continue to find a dozen errors or more every year.

My personal favorite was one where they had my correct DOB, but listed a credit card that would have been issued to me when I was four.

Another time they listed four SSNs.

Equifucked is the worst of the big three with Transonion a close second.

And with the OPM breach, criminals the world over know everything there is to know about me.

Yup. Told me I might be affected and gave me an enrolment date.

My wife showed up as unaffected.

They need to start putting some of these jokers in the slammer for this stuff. They'd learn how to get their security straight real fast.

If you do a credit freeze, can someone still run a credit check (say for an apartment lease), but not open a new line of credit?

This chaps my ass even more. And the alibi was the shares sold was only a small percent of the executives' holdings. (Yeah, because they're NOT THAT DUMB to be blatant about it.)

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Instead of sales of explicit shares, I wonder if they also shorted a good volume.

I hope that financial institutions stop supplying data to Equifax. That'll put 'em out of business.

This wasn't the first data breach, and it's certainly not the last one. I try to provide my own protection to the extent that that's possible. Specifically, I have only one credit card (from my bank). That makes it easier for me to check ALL of my financial accounts – every evening – for suspicious activity.
