That’s what I was doing this weekend, almost literally. Visiting a friend who had just had valve surgery. I dressed up in my Balboa Naval Hospital cardiology jacket so I would get the proper respect, then sat down in the chair next to his (of course he’s in a chair, not the bed), and we talked guns and politics. Then I prayed for him and went home. No night call. I ignored the “code blue” alarm down the hall. Flirted with the cute nurse.
