Need to open a document that was written on a Mac & sent to me. It's a .PAGES file, and I've only got Word, Notepad & Wordpad as options on this machine. Tried to just change the extension & that did nothing. Word tries to open it, but results in gibberish & symbols. Is there a way to convert a Pages file to .docx or something that a Windows machine can read? The Enemy's gate is down.

If you can get your hands on a Mac, Pages will Save As in .doc and .docx formats. Maybe get your friend to re-send it? If not, you might try OpenOffice.org/LibreOffice or whatever derivative there is for Microsoft operating systems. Most of these are FOSS (Free Open Source Software), free to download, install, and use. Some distributions can take significant disk space.

Here's one way to do it: How to open .pages file using Microsoft Word Here's another way to do it: How to open .pages doc with google drive "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual."
