"I vowed to myself to fight against evil more completely and more wholeheartedly than I ever did before. . . . That’s the only way to pay back part of that vast debt, to live up to and try to fulfill that tremendous obligation."

Alfred Hornik, Sunday, December 2, 1945 to his family, on his continuing duty to others for surviving WW II.

"A Mexican Army soldier accidentally triggered a live, uncleared firearm with an electric cutoff saw during a public "Sí al Desarme, Sí a la Paz" buyback event in Tzintzuntzan, Michoacán, on August 12, 2026. The blade's friction detonated the chambered round, sending shrapnel into a crowd of spectators and hurting four people with non-life-threatening shrapnel injuries.

State prosecutors in Michoacán launched an immediate inquiry into the safety breakdown, and military leadership announced internal disciplinary measures for the handling error."

What I find bothersome is that Mexico apparently has a holiday dedicated to disarming its people by destroying guns, while cartels and other criminals with actual military-grade weaponry - sold or given to them by the military - run amuck. Roll Eyes
