I'll have this iPhone in hand soon and will be moving all my music over from my iPhone 6S. Has anybody here used iCloud to transfer their music over to another newer iPhone? Instructions seem fairly simple and straight forward, and of course there's always You Tube if I need a visual. Looking forward to using the new camera out as I hear some good things about images snapped by the X. Any reviews here from members that received theirs so far? Thanks. Regards, Will G.

Mine has been great so far. All my iTunes music is purchased from iTunes so it comes over automatically. There isn’t that much as Spotify is my main source of music. I got a qi wireless charging stand from amazon for $30 which has been great. Battery life is lasting all day but still hoping Apple makes a smart battery case for the X. Face recognition has been flawless. The screen is impressive. _______________________________________________ Use thumb-size bullets to create fist-size holes.

Looking to pick an X up hopefully in the near future, as my 5s is going wonky. Having a Magpul case on my phones for years and loving them, I sent an email to their customer service and ask if a case for the X was in the works and if so when could we expect it. It's been over 24 hours and no reply yet... Collecting dust.

Dusty, may I ask which charging stand you purchased? I looked and there are several to include one manufactured by Anker which I've purchased several cords and a portable charger that have worked quite well. I see that there's even a few for the car. The 2018 Honda Accord has a factory wireless charging base in the dash which is a nice factory feature. I guess that will become factory features with many newer cars. I'm really looking forward to the X's camera, I've seen some great reviews and some good images and in-camera creative editing. Regards, Will G.

If that's crystal clear, I've had one too many... GF is thoroughly loving hers, her only complaints so far is that it is too large and the curved edges on the display. EDIT - Below: Cool pic, and that is an insane amount of wine in that one shot, I can't imagine how many rows it takes to make 500k bottles. Jesse Sic Semper Tyrannis

I’ve had mine almost a week and I love it. Face ID is great and Apple absolutely nailed it. It’s fast. Great camera. Screen is awesome. And I love the smaller form factor. Also, I learned last night that iOS11 includes the ability to record a video of your actual screen (record exactly what you’re doing on the phone). That was cool to see. _______________ Mind. Over. Mine will be here Tuesday! I’m pretty damn excited. It’s made the long trip from China according to the tracking info. It’s interesting seeing all the cities on the manifest where it’s stopping enroute. I think right now it’s in Alaska... I’d like to be with it there! "Attack life, it's going to kill you anyway." For real? |
I don't have a mac, but a pc and when changing iphones, I usually do a backup with itunes software, then restore to the new phone. It transfers over everything. even text messages. I last backed up my 6S in June before I sold it and switched to Android. Someone's giving me her 7 Plus when her X gets in so I'm just going to restore the 6S saved state to the 7 Plus. Not minority enough!

I really like the iPhone X for its large, clear screen in a relatively small form factor. I'll get one when I can walk into an Apple Store, and walk out with one. Serious about crackers

For those of you that have not been in the Bern's Wine Cellar, let me assure that this picture is amazing. It's way, way darker in there than this picture would lead you to believe.

For those whom may want to further enhance images, Z06 introduced me to this free Prisma app you can download to the iPhone that will add some pretty intense effects of your choosing to your photos right in the phone..The choice of image enhancements are quite extensive, I've just scratched the surface. I got my X on Monday, and have had just about every iPhone since the original. I will say that this one is my favorite so far. I love not having a home button anymore, and furthermore love having a screen that fills just about the entire face of the phone. The new gestures seem very intuitive to me. It didn't take me more than a few minutes to adjust for the most part. It's what I've been wanting in a phone for a long time now....I just didn't realize it until now. As far as your music transfer goes, there's different ways to do that. The easiest is if you bought it all through iTunes then it will be there when you restore from the backup of your old phone. You might have to click on a little cloud symbol but it's as easy as that. The second involves syncing your old phone to your computer and then syncing the new phone to the same computer...as far as I can remember this will do it as well. You can also set up wifi sync as well, and I would imagine it would accomplish the same thing. Sorry I can't be more specific on that but I haven't had the need to actually sync my phone to a computer in years and it's because of the following suggestion. The third option is subscribing to iTunes Match if your music is all from CDs and whatnot (ie not purchased from iTunes). It's $25 per year and what it does is reads your entire library and any music that you have in your library and there's a match for it on iTunes then you get the option of replacing it with the iTunes version (which is usually better sounding depending on the method you used to copy the cds to your computer) and anything that iTunes doesn't have it will upload a copy of that music to Apple's servers and you'll have it on the cloud as well and it will keep all of your libraries matched at all times across your devices if you choose. Change or create or delete a playlist on your computer or phone and it will update automatically on the other device for you to match each other. This is the main thing that I use it for anymore...I've since deleted all the non-itunes music from my library...although I suppose it's still in the cloud if I really wanted it back....just haven't felt the need to try to recover it.

Thanks for the helpful suggestions! I called my carrier and what I'm going to do is swap the SIM card out with the one from my 6S and likely go the iCloud route to restore. No cords and/or iTunes however, the only thing that may slow things down, if I do restore thru iCloud in the steps I may need to update my IOS on my iPhone 6S if I have a problem restoring with version !0.1.1 a very early version. I've never had a need to update, especially to IOS 11, as everything works quite well with the early version. Anyways, should be here Monday or Tuesday Regards, Will G.
