Usually some fancy mustard (e.g. horseradish mustard, beer mustard, etc). This is the one category where I get raised eyebrows.
HEB organics ketchup (no HFCS)
Various forms of dill pickles (baby, hamburger slices, etc)
Cholula
Four Escobars Honey BBQ Sauce. This stuff is amazing on pork. It is made in Texas and distributed by HEB.
My sister is visiting from TX and brought some Cholula. She said once I try it I won’t be the same. She gets it from HEB.

SigSentryA little drizzle of raw honey on a strip steak gets the saliva juices flowing.

shovelheadMustard, Plouchman’s or in a pinch French’s.
Ketchup, finally dumped Heinz Simply Ketchup and substituted with the Meijer brand that contains no HFCS. My ketchup quest was related in What’s Your Deal a couple weeks ago.
Barbecue sauce, tossup between Montgomery Inn and Sweet Baby Ray’s.
There’s only two of us at home so not really worth it to make my own ketchup and barbecue sauce.

I make my own BBQ sauce, I don't care for any commercial sauce at the store, Sweet Baby Ray's is about the only one that's not totally gross.
I make a mean tomato based BBQ sauce that is sweet, vinegar, spicy ( without being hot ).
I also make a mustard based BBQ sauce that is very good.
Years ago I smoked a bunch of ribs, I took some to an elderly neighbor. A couple of days later I went to get my containers and he said the BBQ sauce was so good he ate the leftovers with a spoon.

Recipes? Or are they a family secret.

We use Sweet Baby Ray's but it never motivated the use of a spoon. Color me intrigued!

PerceptionI put Sambal Oelek on a whole lot of stuff.
I use Gochujang or BBQ Sauce pretty much everywhere most people would use ketchup.
A good Dijon mustard is tough to beat.
"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in." August 21, 2023, 05:47 PM

Well, the BBQ sauce recipe isn't really a secret, but the secret ingredient IS a secret

AUTiger89I love horseradish.
Wasabi (actually horseradish) and Soy Sauce almonds are my crack cocaine.
Emeril's Horseradish mustard is my go-to.
A waitress once told me to mix raw horseradish with ranch dressing to put on a Philly. She was right. I won't eat a Philly now without it.

You might like these folks then.

erj_pilotPersonally, there are VERY few things I eat that has ketchup/catsup on it. The only thing that comes to mind right now is the rare Quarter Pounder with Cheese from McD's...maybe twice a year? I don't have ketchup/catsup in the house unless I'm having guests that I know consume the stuff.
I've seen recent advertisements for VEGAN Hellman's Mayo? Uhhhhhh...WTF is THAT?!?!?!? Plant-based CRAP...that's what it is!!!
BBQ sauce. I honestly do not prefer my BBQ with sauce. I want the meat, with whatever dry rub it's prepared with, to speak for itself.
Hot sauce. Don't use it that much and if it's a bottle of Tabasco or Louisiana Hot Sauce, that's fine.
Condiments in my house (aside from dressings) are French's Mustard and Dukes Mayonnaise now in the 30 oz. container (discussed in another thread). Should there be grill food involving Brats, I'll get some brand of Spicy Brown Mustard...probably store brand.
