I found him up against a brick wall in the snow. I didnt know it was a bird and its been there for hours. I saw a starling land and sit next to him for a couple minutes then leave. He is dark grey on top and a bit lighter grey on bottom. I brought him in my van to warm up and hes sitting in my winter gloves resting. Maybe he hit the wall? I dont know. I thought if he gets a little mobile I would put him outside but its only 5 degrees out. What to do for my little guy?

One thing I've learned from a bunch of reading and advice from a vet, is that birds don't tolerate large swings in temperature. You'd think bringing him in to warm up would be a good thing, but it's not. Birds can tolerate very cold temperatures quite well simply by fluffing up their feathers.

He has his eyes open and is just sitting here. I crunched up a little vegetable cracker to see if he might eat.

He was all puffed up sitting there. I will take him back out in a little while.

Little fella didnt make it. I will pick him up later.

Sounds like a snow bird, or Junco. They show up when it starts getting cold, and stay around all winter. If it gets real cold and stays that way for several days, seems like I always find 2 or 4 that won't be back next year. They spend most of their time under the Finch feeder, and the suet feeder. I always put some feed on the deck rail for them.
