"No child left behind" My nephew just took his 11 year old son out of school for three days to go turkey hunting. The school gave him a minor fuss about them being "unexcused absences", to which he responded "So what? It's not like he can be "left back", so what difference does it make?" As much as I don’t like DEI, this isn’t a part of DEI. Schools up through universities have been failing up students long before DEI. Grade inflation as well. It’s the American culture where education isn’t valued. In contrast, look at other countries where the scores are publicized for engineering and professional licenses. They celebrate the new graduates who get hired by the top companies. Here, what gets celebrated? Who are the top draft picks by the NFL. It’s not just DEI; everyone needs to look at their own values and understand their values aggregate up to the level of society as a whole. Raise your hand if you want to the time and money to do anything for anyone that requires assistance outside the scope of what you consider "normal ". Yes, money is a portion of the problem. But so is social conflicting attitudes. Huge institutions , when they fail, fail hugely. The bigger a school district gets , the easier it is for money to magically evaporate. I know of half a dozen athletically inclined kids ungraded 5th through 9th that are being groomed for college athletics programs. Those gifted individuals are getting tutors, nutritionist , physical fitness training and other "stuff". In hopes they will play volleyball, softball, b ball and football in college. So some kids are not totally abandoned. Safety, Situational Awareness and proficiency. Neck Ties, Hats and ammo brass, Never ,ever touch'em w/o asking first | |||

Sorry to disagree. Neither Marxism or Communism celebrates the NFL draft and downplays academic excellence as a societal norm, that's Americanism. I would not bet against you. At the top 30 universities in the country, a 7% minority group of the USA overall makes up 20% or more of the students at almost all of those universities. For example, Princton's Class of 2029 is 27% Asain American and UCLA's undergrads are 35% Asian/Pacific Islander. Those kids earned it. They score better on the entrance exams,have better GPAs, and have more impressive extra-curriculars. | |||
