Just to be clear, it is not PBS that is shutting down, it is the Corporation for Public Broadcasting that is shutting down by the end of the year. They fund both PBS and NPR, but not entirely, both entities get additional funding from private sources as well. But this will, without a doubt, be a huge blow to PBS and NPR.
Yep, their programming will be greatly affected, but they are not going anywhere. OP might want to revise thread title to accurately reflect that CPB, instead of PBS, that is shutting down.

PBS occasionally airs some good programming that's actually not just leftist propaganda. Trouble is, most of them are only seen as part of their quarterly "annual" fundraising telethons. I expect those beg-a-thons will start happening monthly now.

mttaylor1066The “CEO” of the Corp. for Public Broadcasting, Patricia Harrison is 86 years old.
Eighty-freakin’-six years old.
She was appointed CEO in 2005… 20 years ago for those of you in Rio Lindo… she gets about $500k a year. She’s been involved in Republican politics and the Bush family. Take that as you will.
I can see a family business being run by an octogenarian founder or family member… but not a public or governmental entity.
Her position is a sinecure, pure and simple.
