This is a Maverick with a +1” on the front to level it. Looks pretty good to me.
There are some interesting dynamics happening all across the consumer products spectrum. A couple years ago I was harping on cellphones having gotten too expensive and some sort of 'correction' was coming. Enter the iPhone SE Version 2.0, the Pixel 'A' series (3a, 4a, etc) and the Samsung A Series of "value' priced phones that have outsold their high dollar, high optioned siblings. Trucks have headed down that same road, making the Maverick somewhat inevitable.
When it comes to capabilities, there's a YouTube video of the Maverick, loaded with 600 pounds of feed corn, bouncing around in the Texas backcountry servicing deer feeders, and it did a darn fine job in that role. From that end of the spectrum to people hauling and soccer drop offs, this little truck may actually meet the needs of 'new' truck buyers better than the legacy models. And I watched that Maverick video in a measure of pain as the truck (with 600 miles on the odometer) had brush raking down both sides.

old rugged crossAt about $40k it is not going to do anything as well or better than a lot of other manufacturer's offerings. a new Ford with all the proverbially new vehicle bugs. No thanks.

Good gas mileage will probably come in handy.
I hope it gets into production sometime soon, but my faith is weak.
Based upon what I've been reading, hybrid production will not start until next year. They just started making the Maverick and there's only 6 weeks left this year.... plus the whole chip shortage situation. There's over 100,000 orders, a success that can easily turn into a disaster if Ford does not handle this right.

old rugged crossAnd from the sounds of it hay2bale. When, if ever you get it. I don't think it will be anywhere's close to $27k otd.

And I just do not see the lure for a 2wd version. Especially if rwd.

trapper189In 5 years and 120,000 miles I’ve used 4wd 3 times. There was a 4th time, but it didn’t help and I had to have a wrecker come out to pull both the truck and 5th wheel out of the yard next to my house.
I could easily do without 4wd, put the extra payload to good use and enjoy better fuel economy.

BlackmoreThere was an XL Ecoboost AWD at a local dealer that they left open. I'm 6'5" with a 34" inseam. I fit fine with headroom to spare if that helps anyone making a decision.
Who knows when my July ordered hybrid will turn up though

My brother on the other hand ordered the first night they opened orders. His Ecoboost AWD is being built second week in December.

Headroom is never a problem for me, but legroom is.
I have a 36.5" inseam. When you sat in the Maverick, was there enough legroom for 2.5" longer than you needed?

Sorry, but I think I had the seat all the way back and was comfortable. If I get another chance I'll check.
