Anyone know how the interior space will compare to a Honda CR-V (like a 2013 CRV) ? Hoping it's very close to the same if not more. Hoping to talk the wife into trading her CRV in for a 4x4 Maverick with the ecoboost.

I think you are correct and I think the same thing could be said for the baby Bronco. A lot of folks including myself grumbled, laughed, and scoffed at the idea of the baby Bronco because we had been waiting for the return of THE BRONCO.

But the baby Broncos are all over the place here. They are clearly selling like absolute hot cakes in Central Kentucky. May not be the case elsewhere but I am surprised at how many I see daily.
But I think price point is huge. Maybe vehicle availability as well.

I have less issue with a truck called a Maverick, than an electric crossover called MACH and Mustang.

If you were interested in the hybrid version, you're going to be waiting a while longer Report: New 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid Orders Are Being Halted Until Further Notice. Not good news for Ford given they've really been hyping the hybrid version.

Bigdeal, that Subie Brat is so cool! I’ve always wanted one of those, they are so unique! I’ve only seen a handful of those in real life.

I suppose with Ford and Hyundai’s latest creations maybe the Subaru Baja was just ahead of its time? One of my wife’s coworkers had one of these and traded it in for a boring Audi SUV. Frown I wish we had bought it from her, the Baja is SWEET!

I can’t find it now, but I read something about hybrids requiring 10x as many chips as non hybrids and I wondered how Ford could be start building the Maverick given the current chip shortage.

Read that, but searching for more information its interesting that many say production is halted as in all Mavericks, but then they say"

As the most affordable and efficient version of the Maverick, the hybrid truck is likely to be the most popular model, so a lot of customers are going to be disappointed. Starting at $19,995, the base model is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with an electric motor producing a combined 191 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque. The more powerful 2.0-liter EcoBoost version rated at 250 hp and 277 lb-ft is not affected by the scheduling delay, however. If you want to get behind the wheel of the Maverick as soon as possible, the 2.0-liter EcoBoost is your best option right now.

Seems like its only affecting Hybrids, they are going to continue making EcoBoost versions, I"m guessing chip shortages are the issue as the hybrids would have more chip needs...

IMO, Ford has really fumbled rebranding each new vehicle with past names. In this case, I think Ranchero would have been better than Maverick.

IMO they should have named the Mustang MACH-E the Pinto-E instead. The body shape is pretty reminiscent as well.

Only if it explodes when struck from the rear. Wink

I'm going to say that it will sell reasonably well.

It's for a very different targeted demographic; Ford isn't marketing this to older drivers whose likely to have preconceived notions on what makes a "proper truck", or to any present (or past) pickup owner who's already ingrained with traditional pickup truck-think. This is for the Corolla/Civic owner who realizes that perhaps a pickup is a better and more flexible choice for them than a fully enclosed RAV4 or CR-V. Something that's perhaps the spiritual successor to the Suzuki Brat or Isuzu Amigo formula, only with more of a sedan/modern 4-door SUV building block rather than starting with a beachcomber/Jeep vibe.

It's kinda of the mindset of what GMC tried over a decade ago with their Envoy XUV, just more truer to being an actual pickup rather than a gimmicky 'SUVconvertiTruck'.

Younger buyers aren't going to care about the Maverick reuse. Hell if they know ANYTHING about what a "Maverick" is, it'll be the callsign of that dude who flew Tomcats in some movie in the mid 1980s and then couldn't get off the ground in 2020 or 2021.

Ford was anticipating the hybrid/EcoBoost split in the online orders to be about 40/60; instead it was 70/30! Big part of the problem getting people's Mavericks built.

I saw an actual Maverick, in person, yesterday.

It was Sunday, so the dealer wasn't open. I ordered a hybrid in July, and have been following the production difficulties the hybrids have endured. I was beginning to think the entire Maverick line was just an internet rumor.

I was impressed. I can reach the bottom of the bed, and the doors are wide enough.

The single example at the big city dealer was a gas XLT 4WD. The sticker was ~$32K and the dealer added an additional $7,500 mark up.

Yep, the Santa Cruz is a bit more feature packed and more expensive than the Maverick. It also looks a bit more SUV like to me than truck. How about a Santa Cruz like this....

I'm considering one of these after watching a press release video of it. Full of features 280hp, 300+ tq, 0-60 in 6 seconds and 1/4mi at 14.5 seconds. That's almost as fast as my car. I like the ugly look of it, so ugly it's adorable.

It's not like I'm Tom Cruise short, but some of these truck beds are hard to even see into let alone reach anything.

The reuse of the Maverick name doesn't bother me as the Maverick was always kind of a shitbox. But Ranchero? No, Rancheros can be kind of cool in their own quirky way. I'd love to have a 67 500XL with a 4 speed and a 390 V8.

I think this truck will be a big hit. Full-size trucks have become so huge and expensive that with everything else soaring in price people will eventually need to find ways to cut back. The current midsized have also gained in size and price so much that it’s barely e we orth the saving over a full-size.

The other thing is that the vast majority of them are just used as people haulers and the occasional trip to Lowes.

A $35k Maverick will get you a decent list of options and do what 80% of the population will need of it.

This is a Maverick with a +1” on the front to level it. Looks pretty good to me.

I have owned about 10 trucks over the years ranging from 3/4 ton 4x4s to pull horses to Rangers to run around in. I recently sold my F150 Platinum for an insane price and I’m truckless. This truck interests me.
