Jeff YarchinHas anyone used Bring a Trailer to buy a car?
I see mixed reviews out there but I was wondering if any of my imaginary friends have used the service?

chellim1Nope. I use Copart.
"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

mrvmaxI’ve always wanted to but $$$ (actually lack of) always keeps me from bidding.

CWR67I sold a car on BaT and my buddy has purchased two from the site. All of the transactions went well and both of us would use them again.

Tgrshrk99***OLD THREAD WARNING***
Considering bidding on a car on BaT and wondered if there was any more recent experience here (buy side or sell side). Particularly interested in experience with the verified checkout and shipping options. Thanks.

rainmaker5505I have bought 2 cars on BaT. Both were relatively local to me, so I don't have experience with the checkout or shipping functions. Both transactions went exceptionally well. One car was bought sight unseen and the other one I arranged with the seller to inspect and drive ahead of the auction close.
I do know that many sellers offer to help arrange shipping, and that better deals can be had by shopping other shippers vs using the BaT built-in shipping.

Russ59Three years ago when I was looking for an old 911, I bid on quite a few and was in serious contention on one or two. I didn't win any but would not have anticipated any issues.
I ended up buying one kinda local to me from an eBay auction (which I didn't bid on, but contacted the seller and bought it offline).

coyotedudeYes,I have and on Cars & Bids. As a buyer you'll pay approx 2.5% commish, as a seller, nothing material. The value I've found on both sites, particularly BAT, is that sellers seem to be decently vetted and respond to questions quickly and accurately. Equally helpful is the running input from both bidders and viewers during the auction. At the end of the day, you need to do your own diligence.

PatriotI sold one…first person who ran the bid up ghosted me.
BAT helped get with the second highest bidder and we closed the deal…went ok at that point.

AlyronI bought my Alfa Spider on Bat about 19 months ago. I bought from one of their "partner dealers" that is in NY. I am in Florida. Deal went smoothly and they assisted with shipping. I have the shipper's name if you end up needing one. In the past I had won an auction but was below reserve. Couldn't put a deal together as he wanted more than I was willing to pay but using BAT was easy.

SHOOTIN BLANKSI’ve bid on a couple but never won an auction. Always interesting to read the comments on a vehicle. Pretty knowledgeable people.
