I’m going to go against the grain a little bit here and suggest that the 700K you have may not be enough. Like you, I am very risk adverse and even though our advisor says we can both retire, my wife is still working with the goals of adding to our nest egg AND maintaining our health insurance until she turned 65 or so.

She has however, reduced her hours to 32 per week which has allowed her employer to keep her on the full time payroll and given her more time for gardening etc.

Perhaps your employer would allow you to do that if you wished?
