So my trusty humidor which has served me well for 20 years or so. But it holds about 50 cigars so buying a box of something fills it if I have much in there already. I don't have the room for anything large like Jeff Yarchin's big freestanding one nor the budget to fill one. So I've been kicking around getting one like this one. Anyone have something like this and how well do they work out?

Brad, check out wine coolers, theyy are easy to retrofit and are generally less than cigar coolers.

I do.
It is a converted wine cooler (Haier).
Got it online for about $150 as I recall.
It doesn't last forever ~ on my second.
First lasted maybe 3 or 4 years and this one (same model - buddy got one at the same time and then he had to move because of divorce - so this was free).
Anyway this one is at least 3 years in use and I had to replace a fan ~ no big deal.

Regardless it works well and I use beads and Xikar solution for humidity.

I thought you meant a cooler converted into a humidor. My brother has had one for about 10 years or longer that he stores boxes in. I think he is using Boveda packs to keep it humidified, but I'm not sure.

As far as the one you have linked or similar, I don't have any first hand experience with them. I have heard of people converting wine coolers and such though. Usually it is cheaper to convert than it is to buy a specified humidor chiller.

I used to have a Haier, and it lasted a few years before crapping out. I then bought a small Avanti and it works fine. It is approx. 10 years old, it's making a little noise now, but still works. I use 65% Heartfelt beads and the hygrometer usually reads around 60 degrees and 65-70% humidity. When it is off during the late fall/winter, the temperature is more room temp and the humidity at a good 65%
