Some free advice: 1: you didn't plan your career the first day on the job. Don't try to plan your retirement the first day you're done. Things change, don't sweat it. 2: Think about the things that you wanted to do but couldn't afford the cut in pay. Now you can volunteer to do what you enjoy. 3: Like others have said, look forward to the day when you wake up and don't know what day it is. 4: weekends are for people who work. I can fish, go to the range or take long bike rides during the week. It's far less people-y. And 5: work screws up all your free time.

This sums up my approach to retirement, and I couldn't have phrased it better. I retired at 54, almost 8 years ago. Retirement is the best.

I walked out the door of my fire station at 52 after 31 1/2 yrs.
In Phx it was getting close to 100° in April and I vowed I would NOT work another 100° day! Big Grin
Now I live where it’s 20-30 degrees cooler and the seasons actually change. Couldn’t be happier.

Congratulations on your retirement! Big Grin

I’m a couple years away, but I’ll be 62 also. Cool
