A suggestion: Don't retire FROM something. Instead, retire TO something. There is a BIG difference. They are NOT the same. That will enhance your life. Have a plan. Retire TO something, which is how you live and conduct the rest of your life. Best wishes to you. .

I suffered an unexpected early retirement at 53. Thankfully I’m still here and able to still enjoy some activities.

Congratulations, it's a great feeling. I bailed a year and a half ago at 63. I was going to work another couple years but I just couldn't deal with the Oregon politics and the woke/DEI bullshit at the office anymore. Best decision I ever made, I'm much more relaxed and happier, even my BP is down.

Welcome to "Hyper-Time". We've been retired just over 9 years. Time really flies when you leave the job. Best wishes. Yesterday I had to ask my wife what day it was . She kind of snickered at that. I said " Oh hell , they're all the same " .

I walked out the door at 55 plus 1 day - my birthday was on a Sunday and I didn't want HR to muck it up. That was 20 years ago. Some free advice: 1: you didn't plan your career the first day on the job. Don't try to plan your retirement the first day you're done. Things change, don't sweat it. 2: Think about the things that you wanted to do but couldn't afford the cut in pay. Now you can volunteer to do what you enjoy. 3: Like others have said, look forward to the day when you wake up and don't know what day it is. 4: weekends are for people who work. I can fish, go to the range or take long bike rides during the week. It's far less people-y. And 5: work screws up all your free time.

Retired at 61, if you can do it I highly recommend it. Best Job I Ever had. “Government exists to protect us from each other. Where government has gone beyond its limits is in deciding to protect us from ourselves.” ― Ronald Reagan Retired old fart
