My Capresso Burr grinder is giving my warning signals that it may give up its ghost soon so looking for ideas on its replacement. My preferred grind is a medium fine for the Technivorm automatic drip coffee maker.

I may do a French press but don’t need expresso grinds.

Budget? Would like to stay under $150.

Recently replaced my Baratza Virtuoso that is about 10 years old with the new version of the same.
It is surprisingly fast. Grinding enough for 12 cups (5 oz cup) in under 40 seconds.
We are happy with it so far.

Our Capresso Infinity burr grinder has to be over ten years old. It was used at least once-a-day for all that time, and at least twice-a-day for three or four years. It's still serving my wife well for her Aeropress grind.

If yours is truly dying I'd replace it with a Capresso Infinity 575.05 Infinity Plus, the zinc die-cast model, which is what we have.

There are other burr grinders in your price range, but, this is the only one with which I've had experience.

A little over your budget, but we have been using this for the past year after replacing our second Capresso.

It's very versatile in terms of grind and quantity, plus the bin seals very tightly with a rubber gasket around rim. I like it.

It does espresso to press grinds fine. We recently got a fully auto espresso machine, so not using that as much but for press it seems very uniform. Also like being able to change quantity with a few presses of button after figuring out how many "cups" by their measure are our normal pot, or able to dial back to a lesser quantity if needed.

Also seems to have less static which was frequently a problem with the Capresso. Sometimes still happens but not as severe. Not sure if it's bean or environment caused.

We use an Oxo conical burr grinder. It does a great job for a drip coffee maker.

Can I interest you in a manual grinder? I used something similar to these and have this as a back up.

I went to manual after my last electric burr grinder died. Ceramic conical burr grinder. My first one boast of having been made in Japan.

Is the motor going out, or are the innards just gummed up with years of uncleaned bits and dust?

It is the Infinity model with the stainless steel housing. It's around 3 years old.

I clean the grinder after each bag of beans (approx. 2.25lbs).

The noise sounds like the grinder is slipping, hard to explain. Hopefully it won't die for a couple more years but this new noise just started this week and I'm fearing it's time may be near.

That's actually cast zinc. Same one we have.

Unless you've been grinding a lot of coffee, there's no way that grinder should be dying after only three years.

Heck, I only ever clean ours when I happen to think about it and get motivated. That may be once every several pounds of beans

We've had a Barzatta burr grinder for four or five years. When it breaks, we'll probably get another one just like it.

When I started this long spiral into the rabbit hole of coffee, I began with a small Krupps burr grinder. When it died I searched in vain for another but they had long been discontinued so I purchased a Baratza. It served well for many years to say the least. I decided to step my game up for espresso and purchased a Mahlkonig. The Baratza was gifted to a friend who used it daily for another five years before it began to have problems. She sent it in and for a reasonable fee they rebuilt it. It is still in service to this day. It may be a bit higher than you want to spend but it will be a quality grinder that will last for a long time and their customer service is exemplary.

Called the service department, they were very friendly and promptly sold me replacement at a very reasonable price - I bought two just in case but haven't had to use the latter yet.
