From what I can hear, something about whether he was considering putting US troops on the ground in Ukraine.

Based on what CNN is reporting U.S. Law Enforcement, with support from the U.S. Military, executed an arrest warrant for Maduro and his wife.

I have not seen any reports of the U.S. Military still being on the ground in Venezuela. That could change as the day goes on.

I consider this an important distinction because you’ll see the usual liberal subjects line up to cry about how Trump is exceeding his executive authority to go to war. Trump didn’t take the country to war, he directed U.S. Law Enforcement to execute a valid arrest warrant issued by a court.

Trump Vows to Intervene if Iran Kills Protesters
President Donald Trump on Jan. 2 vowed to come to the aid of protesters in Iran if they are killed by the regime in Tehran.

Several people have already been killed in the Islamic Republic after demonstrations over the nation’s ailing economy turned violent, Iranian media and rights groups reported on Jan. 1.

If Iran shoots and “violently kills peaceful protesters, which is their custom, the United States of America will come to their rescue,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“We are locked and loaded and ready to go. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President Donald J.Trump,” he added.

Trump’s post soon elicited a response from the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, Ali Larijani, who wrote on X, which is banned in the country, that Iran distinguished between protesters and “disruptive actors.”

“Trump should know that U.S. interference in this internal matter would mean destabilizing the entire region and destroying America’s interests,” the former parliamentary speaker said.

“The American people should know—Trump started this adventurism. They should be mindful of their soldiers’ safety.”

The Norway-based Kurdish NGO Hengaw, which details human rights violations in Iran and the area known as Kurdistan, part of which lies on Iranian territory, put the total number of dead at seven late on Jan. 1.

Three protesters were killed and 17 were injured in a police station attack in Iran’s western province of Lorestan, the Fars news agency reported. One of the three was a 15-year-old boy, and 29 people had been arrested. Hengaw later reported. (More)

While the seizure of a head of state by the US is bold, it's not unprecedented.

Under President George H.W. Bush, the US launched Operation Just Cause, a large-scale invasion to depose Nicaraguan dictator Manuel Noriega, in December 1989, saying the move was made to protect American lives, and restore democracy after Noriega endangered US nationals and was indicted for drug trafficking.

Inside Venezuela, the immediate line of succession and who wields effective power remain open questions. Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez issued a statement "demanding proof of life" for Maduro and his wife.

Analysts will watch whether the armed forces and ruling party consolidate control, whether opposition figures attempt to step in, or whether unrest spreads.

Ah, the Chinese delegation happened to be there when Maduro was perp-walked for a ride to the nearest super maximum detention facility. Good!

Regime change in Iran and Venezuela in the same weekend?

Press conference by the President just began. I'm on Right Side Broadcasting site. Moderator prior to the beginning cited that Fox News was reporting Maduro was onboard the USS Iwo Jima, enroute to NYC.

Amazing what can be accomplished when you have no F’s to give, aren’t worried about appeasing various political views, aren’t worried about what the media will say, and unwilling to committee every decision into indecision and inaction.

All these folks claiming these actions are “illegal” or “act of war”, etc may want to ask for refunds on their law degrees, or at the very least do a little research on the laws they claim are being broken.

This morning I awoke after sleeping soundly in my bed because of rough men who stood ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm.

God bless the USA, our President, and our military.

Yeah. They are called ‘democrats.’

They sincerely WANT America to fail, so that they can institute their globalist utopia. . .

What is the legal authority to seize a foreign citizen in a foreign country, against the will of that country's government, who has not directly committed a crime on American soil? This was not an extradition in cooperation with Venezuelan authorities.

To be sure I am all for Trump grabbing him. Shutting down the drugs, pinching Cuba for energy, and hindering China's aggression are all excellent things. I will even say that sometimes dirty work that we never find out about is justified though quite illegal.

But there is a difference between what is right and what is legal, and since criminal cases happen in court, legality matters. As an example, say I post something on social media that the UK government doesn't like, so they come grab me without US government approval, and take me to trial in the UK.

Wasn't he under indictment for drug running in SDNY? I'm not saying we should apply our laws to foreigners not on US soil. But I think that's the justification for it. And if any other country can arrest a US citizen on US soil for violating their laws, let them try to do it. Of course, we'd be outraged by it. But I'd be more outraged by another country thinking they can pull it off. We can pull it off. So FAFO.
