Trump Vows to Lead Movement Ending Mail-In Voting

President Donald Trump on Monday morning said he will "lead a movement" to end mail-in voting in U.S. elections and sign an executive order "to help bring honesty" to next year's midterms.

Hours before he was to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European officials for talks on the future of the Russia-Ukraine war, Trump took to his social media platform to announce an effort that "will be strongly opposed by Democrats."

"I am going to lead a movement to get rid of MAIL-IN BALLOTS, and also, while we're at it, Highly 'Inaccurate,' Very Expensive, and Seriously Controversial VOTING MACHINES, which cost Ten Times more than accurate and sophisticated Watermark Paper, which is faster, and leaves NO DOUBT, at the end of the evening, as to who WON, and who LOST, the Election," Trump posted on Truth Social.

"With their HORRIBLE Radical Left policies, like Open Borders, Men Playing in Women's Sports, Transgender and 'WOKE' for everyone, and so much more, Democrats are virtually Unelectable without using this completely disproven Mail-In SCAM."

Trump and allies blamed his 2020 election loss on voter fraud in several key battleground states.

In March, he signed an executive order to overhaul U.S. elections, including requiring documentary proof of citizenship to register to vote in federal elections and demanding that all ballots be received by Election Day.

Democrat state attorneys general then filed a federal lawsuit, arguing that its provisions would step on states' power to set their own election rules and that the executive branch had no such authority.

Trump now plans to go further before the midterms, saying other countries ended mail-in voting because of "massive voter fraud." He said states must follow a president's lead "for the good of the country."

"WE WILL BEGIN THIS EFFORT, WHICH WILL BE STRONGLY OPPOSED BY THE DEMOCRATS BECAUSE THEY CHEAT AT LEVELS NEVER SEEN BEFORE," Trump said.

After meeting with Vladimir Putin on Friday in Alaska, Trump said the Russian president agrees with him that letting voters send in ballots by mail puts honest elections at risk.

"Vladimir Putin, smart guy, said you can't have an honest election with mail-in voting," Trump told Fox News. "He said there's not a country in the world that uses it now."

Some Republicans, echoing Trump's claims, argue that changes like restricting absentee voting and requiring identification could reduce the risks of ballot tampering, impersonation, or other forms of fraud that independent analysts say is rare.

I don't believe that, surely other countries utilize voting via mail.

I’m much, much more optimistic about Trump negotiating an end to the Ukraine War than I was Friday. Trump and Zelenskyy are on good terms; European leaders are there to strengthen the security guarantees for Ukraine. Trump says Putin is OK with Article-5 like status for Ukraine. Zelenskyy is saying he’s willing to give up Crimea and the Donbas—just not any territory not currently occupied by Russia. It sounds to me as if everything is lining up to make this happen.
Oh and Zelenskyy wore a suit.

An Indiana woman is facing federal charges after allegedly making deadly threats against President Donald Trump via social media, including one in which she wanted to disembowel the commander-in-chief.

Nathalie Rose Jones, 50, of Lafayette, Ind., is charged with threatening to take the life of, kidnap, or inflict bodily harm upon the President of the United States, and transmitting in interstate commerce communications containing threats to kidnap any person or any threat to injure the person of another, the Justice Department said.

"Threatening the life of the President is one of the most serious crimes and one that will be met with swift and unwavering prosecution. Make no mistake—justice will be served," said U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro. "We extend our deepest gratitude to our dedicated law enforcement partners, especially the Secret Service Special Agents from New York and Washington, D.C., for their tireless commitment to protecting our leaders and our nation."

Jones came to the attention of federal authorities when U.S. Secret Service agents found an Instagram user account, "nath.jones," had posted threatening comments about Trump between Aug. 2-9, the Justice Department said.

The user called Trump a terrorist, referred to President Trump’s administration as a dictatorship, and stated that Trump had caused extreme and unnecessary loss of life in relation to the coronavirus. The order also called for him to be removed from office.

From Aug. 6-15, "Nath.Jones" allegedly continued to post threatening comments about Trump on Facebook, federal prosecutors said. An August 6 post directed at the FBI states that "I am willing to sacrificially kill this POTUS by disemboweling him and cutting out his trachea with Liz Cheney and all The Affirmation present."

In an Aug. 14 post directed to Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, "Nath Jones" allegedly wrote "please arrange the arrest and removal ceremony of POTUS Trump as a terrorist on the American People from 10-2pm at the White House on Saturday, August 16th, 2025."

Jones voluntarily agreed to an interview with the Secret Service, during which she called Trump a "terrorist" and a "nazi," authorities said.

She said that if she had the opportunity, she would kill Trump at "the compound" if she had to and that she had a "bladed object," which she said was the weapon she would use to "carry out her mission of killing" the president.

She allegedly said she wanted to "avenge all the lives lost during the Covid-19 pandemic," which she blamed the Trump administration for, citing its position on vaccinations.

On August 16, Jones attended a protest in Washington D.C., which circumnavigated the White House complex.

Following the march, Jones was interviewed again by the Secret Service, during which she admitted that she had made threats towards Trump during her interview the previous day.

She denied having any present desire to harm the commander-in-chief, authorities said. Jones allegedly confirmed that she was the owner of the Facebook user account "Nath Jones" and that she had posted the threatening statements.

"Protecting the President of the United States is our highest priority, and every potential threat is addressed with the utmost seriousness," said Special Agent in Charge Matt McCool of the U.S. Secret Service's Washington Field Office.

Poll: Trump Approval Rating Jumps After Putin Summit

President Donald Trump's approval rating surged to 54% in the aftermath of his summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to a new InsiderAdvantage poll released Monday.

With 43.6% disapproving, Trump enjoys a net rating of more than plus 10, according to the survey.

Trump's approval surged by 4 percentage points in a month. In July's poll, Trump had a 50% approval rating against 48% disapproval.

Trump and Putin met Friday in Anchorage, Alaska, in an effort to reach a peace accord and an end to the war in Ukraine.

Independents and younger likely voters surveyed were behind Trump's boost in popularity. According to the survey breakdown, 50.4% of independents said they approved of Trump, while 57.3% in the 18-39 age group and 56.5% of those 40 to 64 said they approve. Compare that with 40.1% of those 65 and older who said they approve.

"Donald Trump now has an advantage among every age group other than the most senior of voters. He has improved his numbers among African-Americans and Hispanic-Latinos. White voters are at a near record 64%. Voters under 65 years of age now approve of his job performance by wide margins," pollster Matt Towery wrote in his analysis.

"Only the nation's oldest voters disapprove of his job performance, which is consistent with our prior surveys. Overall, his approval numbers are surging upwards post-summit," he added.

InsiderAdvantage surveyed 1,000 likely voters Aug. 15-17. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.09 percentage points.
