RE: Missing desk space on military bases

I'm not gonna pretend to understand all the nuances in military spending/budgets, but I can tell you this first-hand. Give a military unit unoccupied spaces in its AO, they will expand to fill it. And suddenly those spaces will be mission critical. Granted, this is ARNG stuff, but I'd bet the same happens on the federal level. There is sooooooo much waste/fraud (IMHO) in both Big Army and the ARNG, it's not even funny. My unit was kind of unique, so I could see where putting us in a "normal" armory meant we had to be creative with how we used the available facilities, but throw in civilian contractors...it got a little nuts. We were sticking those guys in what were essentially storage rooms. And God forbid they have some sort of contract dispute. Next thing you know, when they came back to work, their stuff would be in the halls and we'd turned their space into a "publications room" or some such.

I will bet that they told everyone something like (BEFORE Trump) "if you only come in 1x a week or 1x a month now and you had a desk here prior to WFH, you will no longer have a desk and have to use shared/hoteling desk space".

Now they are caught with their pants down because they all assumed this WFH thing was going to be forever.

Trump Administration Fires FEMA’s Chief Financial Officer and Three Other Employees After Agency Spent $59 Million on Luxury Hotels for Illegals in NYC

Accountability has come for the FEMA employees responsible for sending almost $60 billion to house illegal aliens in New York City.

As Jim Hoft reported, Elon Musk revealed early Monday morning that FEMA sent $59 million just last week to luxury hotels in New York City to house illegal migrants. One of the hotels in question was the Roosevelt in Manhattan.

According to Musk, sending this money to these high-end hotels violated the law and interfered with President Trump’s executive order. He also vowed to to recoup the funds for the taxpayers.

Now, the Washington Examiner’s Anna Giaritelli has revealed that four employees have been terminated by the DHS. These four works have been referred to as “deep state activists” who went rogue to make the payments.

https://x.com/Anna_Giaritelli/.../1889339713095430193

“Effective immediately, FEMA is terminating the employment of four individuals for circumventing leadership to unilaterally make egregious payments for luxury NYC hotels for migrants,” DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin wrote to Giaritelli.

“Firings include FEMA’s Chief Financial Officer, two program analysts and a grant specialist,” McLaughlin added.

The firing of FEMA’s Chief Financial Officer Mary Comans is particularly significant. As The Daily Mail notes, Comans and her team are probably the most powerful group at FEMA because they control its billions in funding.

Here is a video of her claiming her mission was to use resources effectively. What a lie.

There is also more good news: Giaritelli has confirmed DOGE has clawed the money back as promised by Musk.

Excellent!

Democrats are using Musk to double down on rage rhetoric and rallying supporters to “fight in the street” in a declared “war.”
https://jonathanturley.org/202...-monsters-of-us-all/

“Get Violent and Fight”: Tennessee Minister Calls for Violence

Clearly, Dr. Steve Caudle of Greater Second Missionary Baptist Church in Chattanooga is not the “turn-the-other-cheek” type of minister. Caudle called upon his flock to choose violence in responding to the policy changes in progress in Washington with the new Administration. It is a further escalation of the rage rhetoric from Democratic politicians and pundits.

In a sermon live streamed to YouTube on Sunday, Caudle denounced Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) for threatening to “steal” Americans’ information and money, and said that a violent “conflict” will be coming:

“In this nation, I’m worried that we are on the verge of bloodshed. This is an attempt to take us back to a day that we do not want to go, and we will not go. Therefore, there will be conflict. I pray that the peace of God will win out and overcome the madness that is attempting to take over this nation.”

“And I will say to you, beloved: no one likes violence, but sometimes violence is necessary. When Elon Musk forces his way into the United States Treasury, and threatens to steal your personal information and your social security check, there is a possibility of violence. Sometimes the devil will act so ugly, that there is no other choice but to get violent and fight!”

Invoking Matthew 11:12, he added:

“… Why not talk this way? Because Jesus did… Jesus said in this key verse… ‘The kingdom of Heaven suffers — what — violence. And the who — the violent — take it by force. The kingdom of God is a warzone, it is a battlefield. You did know this, right?”

There is a normalization of such violent rhetoric with mainstream figures. The result can be a sense of license for some willing to turn to violent forms of expression, particularly when given the patina of moral justification.

As I have previously written, rage rhetoric has long been a part of our political process. However, when religious figures rationalize violent action, we cross a dangerous Rubicon in the use of such rhetoric.

The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Exactly one of the biggest issues facing the housing markets around the country. It's easy for a person getting paid California money to live in BFE on the cheap. Problem is that there are fewer places for locals to rent or buy because of the influx of high wage earners working remotely.

An example where I live:

Median household income 2019: $42,793 2024: $80,343
Median sales price for home 2019: $245,000 2024: $365,000

That's just the start. Schools, roads/infrastructure, and doctors are being overburdened too with little to no remedy. There are only 3 grocery stores in our entire county and they are wiped out all the time because the growth has outpaced supply, which also brings higher grocery prices. Taxes have skyrocketed due to the need to accommodate the additional burden. All I can say for the remote workers that have a sudden expectation of being at work: GOOD! Should have never gotten to this point, but I'm glad someone with balls is back in charge.

As a follow-up to yesterday’s post about the TRO cutting off “political appointees” from access to Treasury’s computer systems, things are proceeding as I suspected. No “compromise” was arranged from the court’s order to “meet and confer.” The briefs were filed late into last night—and the DOJ’s reply was strong. Here’s part of its conclusion:

The broader and fundamental flaw underlying the Order remains. Plaintiffs confirm in their opposition that they seek something remarkable: A court order commanding that a segment of an executive agency be cordoned off from properly named "political appointees," while giving access to select "civil servants." The government is aware of no example of a court ever trying to micromanage an agency in this way, or sever the political supervision of the Executive Branch in such a manner. This Court should not be the first. The existing TRO cannot stand.

Believe it or not, the best thing that could happen would be for the Obama-appointed judge to uphold the TRO in full or even in part. Trump’s team would then be all set for an emergency appeal.

Remember: we lose nothing by the delay while these cases climb the appellate ladder. The waste, fraud, and abuse have been happily trundling along for decades. Relatively speaking, a few more months won’t hurt. But the highly visible battle for commonsense reforms infuriates the public, spotlights the left’s contradictions, and forces Democrats to waste valuable political capital defending the indefensible. The best prize lays at the end of the fight: a Supreme Court order completely cutting off lower courts from micromanaging the Executive Branch.

Trump’s legal strategy is brilliant, and it is working. Let the man work.

I wonder why we have nowhere to put people "returning to the office" in DC. Everyone's "work from home" productivity was so low we had to hire more people to take up the slack.

No, they should NOT go "back" to work, a bunch of them have likely NEVER been there. They should get their productivity back up to what it was before the pandemic, do their jobs, and let all the slackers go...

The "plan" was for most to take the subway to the Navy Yard METRO Station.

The "planners" are befuddled, having never asked if most people can do that.

Most cannot because of the price of housing near other METRO stations.

So what did all these employees do before Covid and remote work became a thing?

Time for DOJ to start sending some SERIOUS messages and pursue criminal charges in these sort of cases. Fraud, embezzlement, aiding and abetting illegals, whatever fits. Secure some convictions and substantial prison time in real fed prisons, not the country club ones. Maybe then these folks will think twice before abdicating their duties and responsibilities.
