Man... about a month ago, a friend of mine told me that he and his wife cashed out all of their stocks back in February. Eek

Umm Smudge, if he cashed out in February he is still ahead of the current market, no matter which day he chose to cash out.

Heck, he might be 5% ahead at this moment if he chose the right day.

The content in the linked post from

In case you missed it, the below EO is a big deal. Trump is forcing the federal government to spell out everything that is a crime under federal law. The other thing the EO does is to force the government to add a "mens rea" element to most of these "crimes"; i.e., you have to be aware of the fact that you are committing a crime in order for it to be a crime.

Thus, if you decide to build a pond on your property and the EPA has some obscure regulation saying that is a crime, you would need to be aware of the criminal nature of the act before you did it in order to be guilty of anything.

This is great.

The whole EO is linked in my post below, but I wanted to call attention to one tangential aspect of it. The EO says:

"It privileges large corporations, which can afford to hire expensive legal teams to navigate complex regulatory schemes and fence out new market entrants, over average Americans.”

This is really important and is a theme I keep coming back to. Regulatory schemes like Dodd-Frank and the CFPB are created ostensibly to help the “little guy,” when in reality they create byzantine layers upon layers of compliance requirements that only mega-corporations can afford to navigate. Those sorts of laws are anti-competitive and hurt most of all the “little guy” they purport to help.

When you hear the likes of Bernie Sanders and Big Chief Lizzie Warren railing against the “oligarchy,” realize that they regulatory schemes they propose serve the oligarchy MOST OF ALL. In fact, Bernie and Lizzie and AOC are the oligarchs, not us.

I'm very much looking forward to seeing how the Executive Order relating to prescription drugs affects my monthly cancer medicine shot.

To put it in perspective, the shot costs $24,000 a month. A MONTH. After insurance's discount, they still pay about $3k. And I pay $1k until my deductible is met.

Since I've had roughly 90 shots of this stuff, I often tell friends that I have a several million dollar butt.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Watching President Trump speak in Riyadh right now. He has become a capable diplomat.

Can you imagine if Harris the cackling, blithering idiot had won, and was standing up there now?

It was foolish to sell off stock at the mere mention of tariffs causing a few days' decline in the stock market. When has the stock market ever not come back or rebounded from a minor - or even major - dip in value?

How much were the original buy-in costs?

How much were the selling costs?

How much will the taxable event cost?

How much will it cost to buy back in?

Unless you are actually going to use the money for it’s intended purpose (retirement), cashing out is about the worst thing you can do

An excerpt from the speech, Link

HOLY SMOKES: Trump takes a blow torch to the neocons and interventionists while speaking to the Saudis.

This is a VICTORY speech over globalism.

"It's crucial for the wider world to know this great transformation has not come from Western interventionists, or flying people in beautiful planes giving you lectures on how to live and how to govern your own affairs."

"In the end, the so-called nation builders wrecked far more nations than they built and the interventionalists were intervening in complex societies that they did not even understand themselves."

"No, the gleaming marvels of Riyadh and Abu Dhabi were not created by the so-called 'nation builders,' neocons, or liberal non-profits like those who spent trillions and trillions of dollars failing to develop Baghdad, so many other cities."

"Instead, the birth of a modern Middle East has been brought by the people of the region themselves, the people that are right here, the people that have lived here all their lives, developing your own sovereign countries, pursuing your own unique visions and charting your own destinies in your own way."

"They told you how to do it, but they had no idea how to do it themselves. Peace, prosperity, and progress ultimately came not from a radical rejection of your heritage, but rather from embracing your national traditions and embracing that same heritage that you love so dearly."

"You achieved a modern miracle the Arabian way."

No wonder they respect him so much.

Reloader...

I did not sell a thing and stayed in. I am now ahead of where I was while the market is still down from previous highs.

I also did not have any of the associated fees or tax hits that I would have incurred with getting out at that moment.

Selling due to the tariff scare was a bad move for most in my opinion. It was an emotional move and emotion kills...

Again, my opinion.

Edited to add... I did buy a small amount of stuff that was "on sale", but not enough to account for my "return to even".

“A cold-blooded killer from Colombia was among almost 500 illegal immigrants rounded up by ICE agents in a city-wide sting operation across Houston.

The killer, who has not been named, was detained this week in Texas as President Trump continued his crackdown on illegal immigration nationwide.

Fox News reported the arrest of the Colombian killer after joining ICE on its raids in Houston, finding he had been freely walking the streets despite being ordered to be deported some time ago.

ICE Houston Director Bret Bradford said the migrant has a homicide conviction in Colombia and was sentenced to 21 years there, but slipped into the US illegally in February 2024.

He had been given a court date for an immigration hearing and released at the time, but like many illegal immigrants let in under the Biden administration, he merely didn't show up.

Bradford said they tracked down the killer as he was ordered to be removed by an immigration judge in the US, and praised his arrest as a victory for Trump's policies. …”

“Tulsi Gabbard fired 'deep state' heads of the security council because they oppose President Donald Trump, according to insiders.

The director of national intelligence let Mike Collins, the acting chair of the National Intelligence Council and his deputy Maria Langan-Riekhof go on Tuesday, senior intelligence officials told Fox News Digital.

Sources told the outlet Collins already has whistleblower complaints against him for political bias and 'deliberately undermining' the Trump administration.

Collins also has close ties to Michael Morrell, the former deputy director of the CIA who penned a letter in 2020 that claimed Hunter Biden's controversial laptop has 'all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.' He also set out to get signatures from top ex-intelligence employees, officials revealed.

Meanwhile, Langan-Riekhof has been a 'key advocate' for diversity, equity and inclusion agendas, and is 'radically opposed to Trump,' whistleblowers alleged.

Top officials not only revealed Gabbard's recent firings, but also shared that she has decided to relocate the National Intelligence Council from the CIA to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

She chose to do so in a bid to 'directly hold accountable any improper action and politicization of intelligence,' they stated. …”
