Hegseth Top Advisor Marched Out Of Pentagon, Placed On Leave For 'Unauthorized Disclosure' Of Classified Information

https://www.zerohedge.com/poli...isclosure-classified

A top advisor to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was escorted out of the Pentagon on Tuesday and placed on leave in connection with an investigation into leaks from the department.

Dan Caldwell, a former marine who previously worked for Rep. David Schweikert (R-AZ), was placed on leave for an 'unauthorized disclosure' according to Reuters.

"The investigation remains ongoing," an official told the outlet, who did not provide further details about the nature of the alleged disclosure, including whether it was made to a news outlet.

The incident comes after a March 21 memo from Hegseth Chief-of-Staff Joe Kasper ordering a Pentagon investigation into leaks.

Good.

They’ve had quite a while to put the case together so hopefully the prosecution can get started quickly and put her out of our misery.

Caught a another one.

Darin Selnick, the Pentagon’s deputy chief of staff, was also suspended as part of the same probe and escorted out of the building, according to one of the officials

The Pentagon placed two top political appointees under administrative leave on Tuesday after a probe into potential leaks of sensitive information, according to three defense officials.

Dan Caldwell, a senior adviser to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, was escorted out of the Pentagon by security officers and had his building access suspended pending further investigation, said two of the officials, who were granted anonymity to discuss an ongoing probe.

Darin Selnick, the Pentagon’s deputy chief of staff, was also suspended as part of the same probe and escorted out of the building, according to one of the officials.

The leaks under investigation include military operational plans for the Panama canal, a second carrier headed to the Red Sea, Elon Musk’s controversial visit to the Pentagon and pausing the collection of intelligence to Ukraine, the other official said.

Reuters first reported Caldwell’s removal, but Selnick’s departure and the focus of the leaks have not been previously reported.

The suspensions come as the Trump administration seeks to root out leaks, including at the Defense Department. A March memo signed by Hegseth’s chief of staff asked the Pentagon’s director for defense intelligence to look into unauthorized disclosures, and approved the use of polygraphs.

The Defense Department did not respond to a request for comment.

Caldwell, a Marine Corps veteran of the Iraq War who previously worked at the right-leaning Defense Priorities think tank, played a key role in advising the Pentagon on Ukraine.

Hegseth — in the now infamous Signal chat with national security leaders that accidentally included a journalist — named Caldwell the Pentagon’s primary contact to coordinate U.S. military strikes on Yemen.

Selnick, earlier this year, also performed the duties of the under secretary of Defense for personnel and readiness. He served in the White House and the Department of Veterans Affairs in the first Trump administration. He’s also a former senior adviser to Concerned Veterans for America, which Hegseth used to lead.

Caldwell and Selnick did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Not sure if this has been discussed above and/or if this is an erroneous perspective.

This whole thing with tariffs and trade deficits seems not just about chicom slave wages and eliminating main street jobs. It's not just about moving jobs to chicom. Ironically, it seems that, for one of the world's richest countries yet one with prevalent use of slave wages, it affects mainstreet and wall street in another way. In addition to the tariffs, chicom can't really afford foreign goods. So, goods that sell for a certain price here or outside of chicom, sell for a lower price in chicom. This hurts the margins of the companies selling products.

The companies that remain on main street get hurt twice: competing against slave wages and facing lower margins for products that they sell here and in chicom.

I'm looking forward to a MAGA shift in trade between here and there. And I hope it's dramatic. And I hope it's permanent. If I ever have to buy a chicom made product again, it'll be too soon.

This lawfare stuff needs to become such a painful weapon to wield that they stop doing it. The only way to do that is make an example out everyone who made a big point of attempting it. Every last one of them has their own skeletons to dig up, I guess maybe we just to go ahead and find them.

theedgemalaya.com: Hong Kong Post suspends goods mail services to US

By Farah Master & Jessie Pang / Reuters

HONG KONG (April 16): Hong Kong Post said on Wednesday it had suspended goods mail services by sea to the US and will suspend its air mail postal service for items containing goods from April 27 due to "bullying" US tariffs.

When sending items to the US, Hong Kong people "should be prepared to pay exorbitant and unreasonable fees due to the US's unreasonable and bullying acts", Hong Kong Post said in a statement.
Other postal items containing documents only without goods would not be affected.
"The US is unreasonable, bullying and imposing tariffs abusively. Hong Kong post will definitely not collect any so-called tariffs on behalf of the US," it said.

Hong Kong, a special administrative region of China, has been subjected to the same tariffs as China, according to a US government notice.

The former British colony has long been known as a free and open trading hub, but China's imposition on Hong Kong of a sweeping national security law in 2020 drew criticism from the US and led it to end the financial hub's special status under US law.

Hong Kong Post said its suspension was due to the US government's elimination of the "de minimus" exemption and the increase in tariffs for postal items from Hong Kong containing goods to the US from May 2.

It appears Pete Mitchell needs another post-Navy career, ‘cause he won’t be flying a cargo plane of rubber dog shit out of Hong Kong.

Just about right. Bondi, get off the Goddamned TV; Noem, cut out the ridiculous glamour LARPing; Kash, get to fucking work.

I would add Tom Holman to the group. ICE has closed the southern border and that's great. But the numbers deported are dribs and drabs compared with the tens of thousands --maybe hundreds of thousands – of rapists, murderers, drug dealers, gang bangers, thugs.

Holman came into office describing himself repeatedly as "a hard ass." He was going to arrest the mayors of sanctuary cities, which number well over 100. And he was going to arrest the governors of sanctuary states, of which there are 14. He also said he would go after AOC and other members of her twisted little group.

His total number of arrests, 0.

Trump has been doing an incredible job. But his attention goes in 100 directions every day, some of them toward existential dangers, like Ukraine and Iran.

It's hard to know which of these losers is the worst of all. My vote goes to Pam Bondi. But all the deadwood has to go, ASAP.

Agree stop with the selective "Illegal Alien" bullshit! Grab them all and their children and their children's, children. THAT's what you campaigned on. You didn't say you were going to pick and choose which ones to deport.

I was running to NYC via NJ Transit Train (The Illegal Alien Transportaion System), and they hopped on and off with ZERO Fear! They were so comfortable that they actually believed they were entitled to be here.
