I had read that Andrew Jackson was one of the portraits put back into the Oval Office by Trump:

God Bless President Trump

The point about the unconstitutional gun bills is well taken.

It will be interesting to see if DJT is able to do anything to get 2A back on track in deep blue states where Bruen and other decisions have been largely ignored.

In particular when it comes to carry in public places, which seems at the moment to be under severe threat.

What's impressive is for as old as he is, he attended a church service before the inauguration, had tea with the Bidens, had the inauguration, talked to the people in the overflow room, had a lunch event, talked to his people in the arena, signed some executive orders, went to the Oval Office to sign some more executive orders while talking with news reporters, then went to three separate balls.

If I didn't know any better, I'd say he's on speed. I'm decades younger than him and two events per day is my limit and I want to rest.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Vivek out of DOGE and going to run for Governor of Ohio in November. He's such a smooth talker (well at least he was for a while) that I have a little trouble trusting him. I think there's a bunch of people that would like to see how he does with some responsibility before he starts running things nationally.

I have a few SIGs.

PDJT cannot wave a wand and rescue either Oregon or California from the stupidity of a majority of their voters, true. However, by making life better for citizens in Free America and pointing out to left coast voters that their wounds are entirely self inflicted, he may be able to convince some of them to come to their senses. Will it be enough? Dunno, only time will tell.

Yes. He (and the people) can call on all the people and state legislators to do what is best for their states, and these United States.

I am 100% for seeing that.

Mrs. A works as a contractor for USAID. She reports that her associates, both the contractor staff and Govt. employees are distraught over the thought that they will now be expected to physically be in the office five days a week after several years of mainly "working" from home, an activity that has been severely abused by some of these same individuals. She has told me of on-line meetings where participants are attending from their beds, or while on hikes in a park. Many of these work-from-home staffers have moved to other parts of the country or even overseas and are no longer able to commute to downtown Washington DC. Yes, we will lose some of these employees, but not the ones who are dedicated to and capable in their jobs, it will be the losers and laggards that depart.

Perhaps we will soon see the departure of Samantha Power, the current USAID administrator. Kind of surprised she was not among the first of those dismissed by our President although her public excoriation of HRC during the 2016 Presidential campaign may have bought her some breathing room.

I attended Episcopal services in Houston with George & Barbara Bush many times. That particular church has remained conservative, but like most branches of religion there's been a big split in the Episcopal church. I hope with Trump 47 the whole country can move a little more conservative.

It would not surprise me at all if half of them had side gigs or second jobs all while "working from home".

Meanwhile we the taxpayers were still paying for all these empty federal buildings to be heated and cooled and lit and guarded and maintained as if people worked there. The whole thing was one giant scam and I'm glad that it's ending.

Trump EO ends Fed EV mandate: and probably the state ones too. Take that, Newscum:

quote:
President Donald Trump ordered the removal of incentives for electric vehicles and promoted market choice for consumers as part of the executive orders issued on his first day in office.

In the “Unleashing American Energy” order issued on Jan. 20, Trump said that “burdensome and ideologically motivated regulations have impeded” the development of America’s abundant energy resources, “limited the generation of reliable and affordable electricity, reduced job creation, and inflicted high energy costs upon our citizens.”
In conjunction with this initiative, the “electric vehicle (EV) mandate” will be eliminated, and “true consumer choice” will be promoted, along with the removal of regulatory barriers to motor vehicle access, according to the order.

It states that it is the policy of the United States to ensure “a level regulatory playing field for consumer choice in vehicles.”
State emissions waivers that limit sales of gasoline-powered automobiles will be terminated , as appropriate, together with the elimination of “unfair subsidies and other ill-conceived government-imposed market distortions that favor EVs over other technologies and effectively mandate their purchase by individuals, private businesses, and government entities alike by rendering other types of vehicles unaffordable.”
