I loved the monkey’s picture. Yep, they’re waiting for us.

I'm so sorry for your loss. 8 years is way to young.

While I'm sure she misses you too, you did the right thing.

I'll add your family (including Sophie) to our prayers tonight....

I am sorry for your loss.

I try to avoid these discussions due to the fact that they make me cry like a little child.

I have lost immediate family members and never did have the same sense of loss as I have had with a good dog. Maybe that says something about me being defective, or maybe it has to do with the love and trust of a dog.

IMO, dogs are proof that God loves us.

I am so sorry. Losing our canine pals hurts like hell.
I first noticed your post because her name was Sophie. I have a middle aged darling named Sophie as well. In her case, when we got her as a pup, my youngest daughter somewhat facetiously dubbed her Sophia Loren, the dog. Because my Sophie was not exactly a beauty queen maybe, but it didn't matter. Sophia Loren soon became Sophie.
She has been a fixture here and I cannot help but dread the day, that she too is gone.
My philosophy, which is too big of a word for my opinion, is remember her, but get another pup or dog soon. You are not replacing her, but rather honoring her. IMHO

So very sad about your losing Sophie so soon.

Thank you for not letting her suffer.

30+ years of sporting breeds, mostly Weims and Labs. They hold a special place. Very sorry.

Sorry for your loss. My Aussie just turned 15, I’m not sure how much time she has before I’ll be in the same position.

Few things on earth are as satisfying and fulfilling as a good dog.
