I've tried a monocular before, albeit a cheap one, and find I much prefer binos.

I used a friend's pair of Nikons like I linked while sitting in the very back of a theatre for a play. They worked well, but wanted to check with the All Knowing to see if there was better.

I like the Steiners I have. Spent many hours looking through them doing surveillance. I may just spring for their compact ones linked above.

Night before last we were rolling to what came in as a DV with the suspect actively shooting...was thinking to myself "those damn new binos might come in handy right about now" Roll Eyes

We got lucky...in more ways than one...but I need a small pair in my small bag. Those big 10x50s won't fit.

Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here.

Although sometimes distracting, there is often a certain entertainment value to this easy standard.

C, call these guys. Having a huge sale. Really good guys. They will get you what you need at a great price. Probably get a better product than you think you can afford. These guys are pro's when it comes to optics.

I would ask on the Gary Reeder board. He sells a lot of optics such as scopes and binoculars.
