| NYS combined Ballistics Identification System program "CoBIS", had no impact on identifying or solving cases. However, it was instrumental in identifying when your Glock was manufactured as a spent case including date was required. Prior to the NY Safe Act the project was decommissioned. As an aside, during the 70's all handgun ammunition sales had to be logged at point-of-sale. This too was short-lived. |

Delusions of Adequacy
| Pre- '86 records were kept on ammo sales. FOPA removed this requirement. Don't know of any instances when this bookkeeping assisted in closing any cases.
