| I think you might be referring to the registration and gathering of fired cases. It might have been Mass.

| NYS combined Ballistics Identification System program "CoBIS", had no impact on identifying or solving cases. However, it was instrumental in identifying when your Glock was manufactured as a spent case including date was required. Prior to the NY Safe Act the project was decommissioned. As an aside, during the 70's all handgun ammunition sales had to be logged at point-of-sale. This too was short-lived. |

Delusions of Adequacy
| Pre- '86 records were kept on ammo sales. FOPA removed this requirement. Don't know of any instances when this bookkeeping assisted in closing any cases.

Yeah, I do seem to recall it was Maryland. It was posted here long ago and we all said a collective "no shit, Sherlock". quote: Originally posted by PeteF: Are you thinking of the canadian registry? https://www.nraila.org/article...lan-new-restrictions
No, it was surely in USA. It was a surprising article because the liberals in charge admitted it did not work, it solved no cases and was extremely costly. |

A Grateful American
| Hell. Births are recorded in all states. Registering people doesn't solve crime either.
