Ever since Para's post of the young lady cooking the General Tso chicken I've been thinking about getting an Infrared Thermometer like she used to check her oil temp. I'm leaning toward the ThermoPro TP30 but would like inputs on it or others.

We have the TackLife version and use it all the time for many purposes. It supplements our Thermapen probe thermometer, since it only tells the surface temperature. I think these are a commodity, that is, essentially similar in price and function.

I have one, but don't use it for that. Just use my thermapen.

I was able to find a thermal imager on sale. Bought it out of curiosity, but now use it all the time.

Oil temp for cooking. Shows what all of the oil is at, not just one spot at a time. Makes a good stud/pipe/wire finder. Sneaky armadillos? Yup. My nephew doesn't like the part when I can show him pictures of the little warm hand prints all over the cabinet where the Cheetos were.

Glad my folks didn't have one when I was a kid.

Thermoworks Dot with probe and SS holder.

Set alarm for desired temp.

Also use the Dot when cooking steaks on the grill (reverse sear method).
