Dude is a bully. Never a good idea to ignore this kind of behavior. Likely as well that all
the people you complained to don't like confrontation and won't want to deal with him.

The one thing that helped my cause with the school system was to record and document all interactions.

Hell of a job market out there, good people are well compensated by the private sector, agree with others, government HR should have strict policies against this harassment, document all, dates, times, people present, build a case and then take him to the woodshed.

Is it just him vs you or is he like this to others, if so then getting them to support you by corroborating your story will be good.

Otherwise, if you pension is secure, find an alternative.

I agree with documenting everything and possibly recording each interaction. If you are working at the same level of productivity as before, and more importantly, as your peers do now, consider perhaps a discrimination claim against him. If you are expected to do more than your peers I’d think you have a clear hostile work environment with discrimination thrown in for good measure- especially with the comments about you finding a new job.

To answer some of the questions

I am not an engineer, but I work with them and that’s bad enough. He is not an engineer either our engineers have no peoples skills, so there’s no sense of talking to them.

When he excepted that job, I did not even apply for it so I don’t think there’s any envy of me the only envy he has is money. He is one of these cheap people that thinks he hast to save a dollar all the time.

Right now the union is involved as our labor relations people I am using the I got my feelings hurt card. I don’t care stuff is being documented.

I was offered a second shift position today which I wouldn’t mind doing and it does get me away from this guy so I think I’m going to do that and we’re able to work from home one day a week so in theory I would only have to see other people on Thursday and Friday The job days off on second shift are Monday and Tuesday which I don’t have an issue .

I am still looking for jobs in the area. I actually have one lined up with the adult parole board as a parole officer, but I have not heard back from them but I understand that it does take a while for background checks to be done. I’m hoping to hear something very shortly from them, so I can go deal with the best people of society great

Prank the hell out of him. just don't get caught. Make his work life as miserable for him as it is for you. So many dumb shits get promoted into management without a clue how to motivate and help people under their control. Brow beating and being a general asshole is all they know. Fuck him. Get him to leave instead of you.

Document everything as others have said.

You’ve been in a state job for 10 years. You don’t have any idea how hard it is to fire a state worker? You have to be a royal screwup to get fired and it takes a mountain of documentation. So unless you’re an actual royal screw up, why look for a private sector job just because your boss doesn’t like you?

You’re going to find bosses who don’t like you in the private sector too and unless it’s a union shop, you have no protection.

You have a state job, you have a union. Go to HR and make sure your complaint is that your boss is creating a hostile workplace environment for you by harassing you for no reason. Those are the key words, not that your feelings are hurt. Get those people who heard as witnesses; you don’t even have to recruit them. Tell your union steward then HR. Your union steward and HR will talk to them. That will put your boss in his place; just don’t retaliate.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Just another minor update. I did accept the second shift position so I won’t be under him any longer. I’ll be under the second shift. Supervisor, who’s better……….

I did file a complaint with a hr about his attitude and another situation that arose. Of course you’ll never find out the full story of punishment which probably isn’t much which it shouldn’t be but of course and there was a big email about how to be professional in the office place came out very shortly after I submitted my complaint, kind of odd

I’m still waiting on one job offer from the adult parole authority of the State of Ohio. I hope to hear something shortly because of that position does open up. I’m totally leaving the position. I’m in now and going to there. It’s still a state job so I won’t lose anything no matter fact, I think it’s a slight pay raise, wish me luck

I would continue to report him until he gets booted, then if so inclined, go for his job. If you want to move to the private sector, the job market is still pretty good.
