New scam "on Amaz*n"?
I get more bogus phone calls, e-mails and even the occasional text from scammers claiming to be from Amazon than from all of the other legitimate retailers combined. In fact, come to think of it, I think virtually 100% of the scammers claiming to be from a legitimate retailer claim to be from Amazon.

I recently got my first one from USAA auto insurance company. I have been with them for many decades. I called USAA and was promptly told it was a scam and to report it (email) to their fraud unit.....which I did.

Yes it’s a phishing/scam.

If you forgot your password, Amazon allows you to get a one time secondary authentication via a text or email message. “To verify” that they’re talking to the account owner, they’ll tell the Amazon login page they’ve forgot the password. You get the text/email, give it to them over the phone (not knowing what they’re up to). Then they change your password and gain full access to your Amazon account, including your credit card information.

Hang up!

Also received an "Amazon" call about an Iphone purchase today. Since I have two factor security, let it go to VM; no message nor any number I could block.

I've had several of those calls - on my home phone. That number is not in my profile with the company.

I'm also suspicious of the automated greeting they use - "Dear customer"
