Jack Ciatterelli, the Republican candidate for governor here, has not conceded. The actual count has not yet been completed. The official count continues. There were a lot of problems with the election. I had a problem posting it, but there is a cell phone video of a Jack Ciatterelli voter who was unable to vote for Jack. She could cast a vote for every other candidate except Jack. The word went out on social media as the day progressed to bring a cell phone to record any problems. There are multiple videos out there showing problems with casting a vote for Jack. Several counties have reported problems with the count, in addition to problems with voting machines. The RNC has dispatched 20 election law lawyers to NJ to oversee the rest of the count and to evaluate for a possible recount. So we will see. I thought the video was shocking. There have been some ballots counted where there is a straight Republican vote, except that no ballot was cast for governor. https://savejersey.com/2021/11...-counting-continues/

My wife (not particularly political, until the last few election cycles) remarked yesterday morning that the Republican "margin" was hardly more than a suitcase or two worth of ballots... easy work for a small team of trained squirrels in Newark or Camden. We escaped from NJ earlier this year, but can still see it from the high ground on this side of the Delaware. Every year it looks more and more like a stylized Gotham City-- the dark, scary kind-- from the Batman movies. The in-your-face level of corruption and malfeasance is breathtaking.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed... It was dismaying to follow the returns Tuesday night and watch the Republican challenger comfortable in the lead in the State's most populous County, only to find that in the middle of the night, that lead had somehow jumped to the Democratic incumbent. (Where have I seen that before?) ![]() I expected Murphy to carry the areas where the FreeSh!t crowds are concentrated; hoped that the more educated and affluent parts of the states would come around. Sadly, that doesn't seem to be the case. I take solace in the knowledge that a relative political unknown, an unassuming grandfather and truck driver, just defeated Senate President Steve Sweeney – one of the state’s most powerful politicians – after spending $153. Sweeney tailed Republican Edward Durr by 2,229 votes on Wednesday afternoon, 51.78% to 48.22% with 100% of precincts reporting in the deep South Jersey district. Republicans with knowledge of Legislative District #3 say that there aren’t likely enough remaining early vote ballots for Sweeney to make up the gap. A long-time chief lieutenant of the South Jersey Democrat Machine, Sweeney’s defeat comes as an epic blow to a once-mighty political organization. It also shuffles the balance of power in the State Senate. The soon-to-be-former Senate President’s district has been trending red for some time (it went for Trump twice), but the final straw for district voters appeared to be not only dissatisfaction with Joe Biden but also Sweeney’s decision to rubber stamp most of Murphy’s lockdown measures during the COVID-19 pandemic. Sweeney’s running mates also went down in flames. suaviter in modo, fortiter in re

Just to put this to bed, that's not entirely true. Ed himself has tried to set the record straight in an interview i heard with him. He spent $153 on the primary. In total though, he did spend a relatively small amount of mpney, about $6,000, compared to over $2 million for Sweeney. ~Alan Acta Non Verba NRA Life Member (Patron) God, Family, Guns, Country Men will fight and die to protect women... because women protect everything else. ~Andrew Klavan

Back in 1981 it took 27 days to certify the election. The only one calling it for Murphy is the media and they are useless. Even if Murphy does manage to hold on, NJ politicisms are all running scared. They know they are vulnerable and aren't about to push anything controversial. The only reason Murphy got as much as he did was the public unions in a large part backed him because of anti labor comments made by his challenger four years ago.
Hudson and Essex and parts of Passaic Counties were never going to move away from the Dem candidate. For the most part they buy the votes with favors and promises.

I was going to say, there's a handful of counties there that are so so beholden to the public sector gravy-train, big gov and the direction of their union, they'd never even get close to turning purple, let alone red.

(Shaking his head) Aaand how many people said exactly the same thing about McAuliffe in Virginia? Meanwhile, Ciattarelli has declined to concede. He's less than a percentage point behind Murphy and is holding out until "tens of thousands of vote-by-mail and provisional ballots" are counted too. Those ballots have until November 8 to be eligible to be counted. Ciattarelli also still has the option of calling for a recount. http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/...rial-race/ar-AAQklfz Meanwhile tales of electoral fun and games are beginning to seep out. Do I think any or all of that means Ciattarelli is a shoe-in? Nope. But even if he doesn't win, there's still a lot of fun to be had in watching the New Jersey Dem machine get screwed with. And, if I may be forgiven a bit of selfish cynicism, it don't cost us a thing to sit back and watch Ciattarelli screw with them. Hell, there's even the off chance that his doing so will either give the GOP information or out corrupt Dems in a way that'll give anyone taking on the donkeys a fairer fighting chance in '22 and '24.
