All taken cared of. I went to the local Sportsman Warehouse store and spoke with the store manager. Nice guy. I explained to him what I thought happened. He agreed.

It seems like he is aware that such thing is happening. People buy the REAL stuff. Go home. Replace the item with a counterfeit SRO, then return to the store.

He gave me a full refund and apologized. He offered to order me another one. I told him that I am worried to buy on-line again as I may get another counterfeit item. He said he will order me a new one directly from TRIJICON. So I said that will be excellent. I asked if he can order both the SRO 2.5 MOA and Trijicon RMR HD. He said yes, and he did. He placed the order and told me it should be at the store middle of next week.

He asked from my full name and number. He said he will call TRIJICON and report the incident to them.

I will post picture of the fake one tonight when I get home.

All good for now. Happy ending.

Swapping fake or cheaper items in the packaging is getting more common . I've found cheap orange can Fram filters in the premium filter box .

It is also a problem for individual online sellers. eBay and similar sites are set up to protect the buyer more than the seller. Some buyers will return the purchase and ship back the empty box. The seller is SOL since the buyer produces a shipping receipt that shows the returned box was delivered back the seller.

Good to hear. Very understanding store manager and wasn't driven by whatever bonus metrics of his that will be affected.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. It wouldn't be any skin off the store manager's back anyway, as it was purchased online from SW's fulfillment center and merely returned to that manager's store.

Purchased the Trijicon SRO from Sportsman Warehouse On-Line store. That was the first question the manager asked me. Where did I purchase it from? I checked the sender's label from the shipment box. It came from their store from Elk Grove, CA. So my gut feeling tells me that someone had returned the counterfeit SRO at that store. Like someone else already mentioned, the store clerk who took the return did not really check the item being returned for authenticity. The ass**** who did the swap probably walked away with a smirk on his face.

What upsets me though is the fact that the item was sold to me as NEW. Shouldn't returned or opened items be sold as OPEN BOX Item? Mad

Glad it worked out but there is no need to scammers and thieves. They will do anything to get something for free. People wonder why brick and mortar gun stores close, they deal with this stuff all the time and usually they are the ones eating the cost. You can only take losses for so long., Yes, their employees need to be trained better but hiring competent employees for what they can afford to pay is another story.

Right? An oil filter is one thing, but I would imagine expensive optics come in sealed boxes. The returns dept. may not know anything about optics, but they should know the difference between a new box and an opened one.

When I was a teen, a buddy of mine went to a shoe store to buy new shoes. He picked his style and size and when the employee brought out the box, it contained an old pair of dirty sneakers. Someone had obviously done a slight of hand switch at some point that the employee failed to catch by simply opening a box before reshelving it.

The frequency in which these things are happening is mind blowing. My gut tells me that this isn’t just a few people doing this on occasion but organized criminal elements doing this in volume across any and all products. Heck, our local Walmart was having a rash of people buying Mobil One synthetic oil that was replaced with used motor oil. I hate thieves, fake Chinese knock offs, and the cheap asses that foster and support all the cheap Chinese crap coming into this country.

My older brother worked for over 10 years in Retail and he stated Employee Theft was more common than Customer Theft. Granted this was back in the 1970's and early 1980's but I suspect that has not changed. If so that Swap may have taken place at the warehouse from which these sights are distributed. It's also why Blister Packing has become so universal.

I've stopped counting.

Likely sticking their large old tv in the new box and taking it to customer service for refund. Ever seen wallieworld CS staff? Doubtful they pull the big old tv out to check it.

Glad to hear it worked out. Honesty is always the best policy.

Holosun sells optics that are not sealed in a box and are just packaged with the sleeve and plastic box. I don't know if any company makes Holosun optic clones, as they are already made in China but I would have no doubt someone will try. I know Holosuns are in no way close to Trijicon but they are an inexpensive way to see if you are ready or if you are a good fit with a rds without having to spend a lot of money initially.

Holosun are great RDS. I have 4 of them on my other pistols and 1 on my pistol caliber rifle. I just want a SRO (or maybe RMR HD) and my next 2011.
